Thread: BIOS problem , no screen no beep.

BIOS problem , no screen no beep.

Yesterday i got Crosshair V Formula , it came with 0705 BIOS and i checked Asus's website to see if there is a better version and there were plenty , all of them focusing on "Improve system/memory stability" and i was like "good i should update it"

So i updated it via Bios using a Flash drive (FAT32) , BIOS said the installation was successful and i wanted to reboot. Rebooted and boom , nothing.

    No video
    No beep

I just power it on and PC doesn't work , i mean you can hear the fan going on etc but it's like a zombie. I searched on the Internet for people having similiar problem and i saw that the only solution available without replacing the mobo is using ROG Connect.

But i am a bit confused at this one , some said Crosshair V Formula doesn't support Backflashing (while CIVF did) via ROG Connect because it doesn't have that button and dunno that happens with GO Button , while searching i saw something about "CrashFree Bios 3" but this info looks outdated and can't find any download.

I tried to use ROG Connect with a flash drive (FAT32 fresh format and has only the ROM in it) (the ROM is named CVF) , enabled ROG from mobo by making it ON , pressed GO Button for 5 secs so flash may start but it doesn't.

So because i'm desperate (Max Payne 3 got released and i can't play because my laptop can't handle it and i'm without good PC for like a week ~_~) can someone provide me with a clear answer of that could exactly help me on that situation ? Expect getting it replaced , i would like to if it was fast but i fear it will take days this is why i am looking for a easy solution which may exist cause i read many people fixing their similiar problems with ROG Connect Backflashing etc.

    Welcome to the forum !
I'd start with pulling the power cord and clearing the cmos and see if that will allow you to get back into the bios.

Done already , tried many combinations but still same result ~ no video nor beeps. To be honest i believe the only solution would be ROG Connect backflashing it but i can't get it working , if it works on Crosshair V. Mobo feels like it's on coma lol

Hmm, second thread I have read where 1402 has bricked the board, I was about to flash it but think I`ll miss this one out

You could take your board to a kind PC repair shop (Or friend with CHVF) and ask them to hot swap a working booted boards BIOS with your dead chip and flash it from windows, then you`ll have a good chip to put back in

EDIT - Removed ROG recovery, see you already tried that

Easiest option would be to contact the place you bought the board from and RMA it as not booting, you`ll have a working turn around board in a week
