ROG Xonar Phoebus or Creative Soundblaster Fatal1ty

    Hey Guys,

I am looking to upgrade my sound card, now I realise my folly asking for a non biast opinion on the forum of one of the products I'm looking at but hopefully you guys can keep your Asus fandom down for a bit ^^.

So currently I am using a set of Sennheiser PC 360 Headphones and Logitech Z-5500 Speakers and would like to upgrade my sound card. I currently have a Creative Soundblaster Fatal1ty Champion PCIE and am Considering upgrading to the Asus ROG Xonar Phoebus but I'm unsure of whether it will make any difference.

I also have a question for someone with this card. With my current setup I can run both my 5.1 surround sound speakers and my mic on my headset with the current card but I dont have enough ports on the sound card for the headphones as well and the pictures that ASUS have put up of this card don't clearly show me what it has so could someone tell me if its possible to have 5 3.5mm jacks plugged into this card in the configuration of a 5.1 setup plus headphones and MIC?

    Kind Regards, Silver Wolf.

You should have no problem running your headset through the Xonar Phoebus, connect the control box that comes with it, plug in your headset and you should be good to go

Yes but can I have my headset and my 5.1 speakers plugged in at the same time?

Yes, of course you can. you only need 3 jacks for 5.1 and 2 for your headset

Excellent. I'll have to take a look at some stats for sound quality and such but at this point I'll probably go for it thanks for your help!

No worries, if you have a look in the Phoebus portion of the thread, there should be a detailed write-up about it and hopefully it will answer your questions

I'm hoping for detailed stats that I can compare to my current card. I'll do some googling and should come up with something
