    G73JH A2. Keyboard Light Problem

I know there is a Fix out there. But please go through what I tell.
I was having GSOD problem. But I updated my driver and then BIOS. Current is 213. Had no problems then. But GSOD was still there. So, I took the laptop for a RMA. I received it yesterday. They said they replaced the GPU. Well, I noticed Keyboard lights were not working. I don't think so it is a driver problem, because when i start, right after i press power button, the backlight doesn't flash. Rest of the lights do. I tried that 'fixmykb'. I booted it with my flash. I got a prompt. I typed fixmykb and pressed enter. Some message came and went fast. I am pretty sure it was not a Flash completion screen. I called the Service centre. They want me to take it back for an RMA. Is it possible that they forgot to attach the wire for the lights. If it is, i can do that. Because the service centre is very far away.

    Thanks.

It is certainly possible, but difficult to confirm, since the behavior is similar to that of a faulty BIOS (i.e. keyboard lights fail to flash on boot). You have attempted the 'fixmykb' BIOS repair, so that makes a disconnected wire more likely. It would be nice to know what the message stated. Maybe someone with a similar experience could weigh in.

Personally, I would check the connection to avoid an RMA, if I were in your situation.

yup i would check the keyboard cable first, its easy to lift up the keyboard, you could check disassembly videos or even your laptop manual (on stock there is a shortcut at desktop called eManual, info on how to lift up the keyboard is right there), you don't need to remove any screws to do this...

Ok. I checked the cable. Both were in place. Will reflashing the BIOS help. If yes, could you give me instructions about that.

I removed the Blacklight cable and put it back again. Voila!!!
The lights came back. Thank you , you guys.
I gotta say this, I have had over 5 brands of laptops, but never have I ever seen such amazing and vast support for one. I owned an iPod once, Apple support is pretty great too. But also none of them made a 1800$ hole in my pocket.

Glad you got it workin' and took the time to actually reseat the cable. I'll be using "reseat" instead of "check" from now on when I make a similar recommendation.
