Problem with HD 4550 & ASUS Crosshair V Formula Rig Playing Games!!

    Hello there.

I want to share an issue that its making me Crazy. Few weeks ago, I decide building a Gaming Machine all AMD based tecnology. First I bought a MOBO Asus Crosshair Formula V, 8GB Patriot Viper Xtreme Division 2 a 2.133Mhz, AMD 8150 Bulldozer and a Sapphire 625Watts Pure Modular. So, the only thing that I had not changed, was my graphic Card, because Im using the older one I've been using with my old PC (a sh....pc).

The Fact is, I can't even Play any game as GTA San Andreas and Shaiya (mmorpg) this last, played Smoothly with my old and crappy pc without any issue. As soon as the game started, there was a Problem with the 3D images, Weird Texture, Artifact all around the scenarios & Characters making it impossible to keep going.

To be brutally honest, I can't figure out whats going on... I really dont know if my Graphic card it's the only Guilty or the drivers, because they are in Catalyst 12.4 ( last version).

Its important to mention, that I made the change to 64bits, you Know, I have upgraded almost the entire PC.

    Tests.

    1) Uninstall and Reinstal the Game --- Fail!
    2) Update the last Catalyst Drivers HD Radeon 4550 V. 12.4 --- Fail!
    3) Uninstall the previous Driver in order to install an older one, like Catalyst Version 11.11 ---BIG FAIL!
(When restarted the system, Error 39 shows up! All the USB ports were Corrupted, made me impossible even use the mouse)
I had to use an Restoration point to fix this new Problem.
    4) ... I Dont Know what else to do!

Please, any help will be Valued.

    Thanks.

    Germa

I'll tell you what's going on. The old gfx card. We are in the 7000 series now my friend and that 4550 was not the best card when it was new. Buy your self a 6950 or 6970. spend a little more and get a 7950. That power supply will need an upgrade too.

Hello Germa and welcome to the forum.

Have you changed the monitor? Or have you changed the settings of the games you are playing?

What was your previous CPU? And what kind of FPS were you getting with the same card in the same game?
