    G74 USB 3.0 issues

My USB 3.0 port (the blue one) is only transferring at around 35 - 40kbps. Previously it would transfer at 80kbps or more. I have done a system recovery and ensured that the Fresco USB 3.0 driver is installed. I have also just updated the BIOS from v.201 to v.203, but I'm still experiencing the issue. Also, yes I am using a USB 3.0 external hard drive. Does anyone here know of a way to fix my problem? Thanks in advance for any help.

I think you may have megabits and megabytes mixed up. Did you mean you use to get 80Megabytes and now you're only seeing 35-40megabytes?

Normally a harddrive will loose performance as it fills due to how the data is written to the spinning platter. The outside is written to first, and then the heads move to the inner portion of the platter which doesn't spin as fast as it fills up. Is the drive almost full? I have used both an external laptop HDD and a desktop HDD in a USB 3.0 enclosure, luckily I haven't experienced any speed problems yet. Is the drive its transferring to almost full or in use? Those could also potentially cause the transfer to slow down.
