    Help needed for build

Ok after some thought and decision, I've decided not to bankrupt myself and go all out, instead build a mid-touching high build for now.

    CPU: i7 2600k/ i7 2700k/ i7 3770k

    GPU: http://www.dabs.com/products/gigabyt...m_content=TB00

CASE: NZXT phantom full tower case

SSD: 240 or 256 SSD will later state which or 120gb for games plus 1tb for storage which probably is better

    RAM: atm G.Skill RipJawsZ 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-14900C9 1866MHz Dual/Quad Channel Kit (F3-14900CL9Q-16GBZL) is this good?

MOBO - will depend on what processor you guys recommend

Water cooling/ air cooling - Corsair H100 or Noctua NH-D14

PSU: 850w psu haven't decided which brand as there are too much choice and I don't know which brands supply good psu

Just some things to ask please answer all or as much as you can.

    1) I will be overclocking the CPU so is there much difference between the i7 2600k and i7 2700k when OC'd (2700k only costs £20 more) or should I get the 3770k instead of both those as it is newer. I will be gaming and recording and editing.

    2) Is the GPU I linked any good? the clock speed is 980 and a gtx 680 clock speed is 1008 or something lol so the gtx 680 worth the extra £100 or should I save the money as it would help pay for other things. also what fps would I see with that card?

    3) Is that case good with air flow? do you think its a good case? I personally like the design of the case

    4) water cooling or air cooling? I will get either the H100 or DH-D14. I want one that requires no maintenance because I don't want to mess up anything. I will only overclock the cpu and probably clock it to 4.6-8 if I can so will the air cooler be enough? and how does water cooling work? will it damage your components?

    5) I'm only going to overclock my cpu and have one gpu so what size psu will be sufficient enough?

Thank you for reading, hope you can help me

    Hey SoRWaR96,

1.) I don't think that it would be such a big difference between the 2600k and 2700k... however at such a low price difference, go for the bigger one! If I would be you, I would stick to the 2600k/2700k as the 3770k has some thermal issues due to it's design...

2.) If I would be you, I would go rather with this: http://www.dabs.com/products/asus-ge...3DD.html?src=3 it has higher speed, it's cooler and makes less noise...

3.) I'm not so big fan of that NZXT case, however there are people satisfied with it... It can house a H100 in push-pull...

4.) Both of those coolers are very good... not so much difference between them though... the Noctua actually can be more silent under heavy load...

5.) Wait until you've decided on the other components for choosing the right PSU...

I think if you want the best bang for your buck then you are going the right way. The 3770k is good but a hot overclocker. It is PCIe 3.0 capable though by the time that matters it will be pushing up dasies. The older chips are great and not much behind in anything but benchmarks and advertising. The GTX 670 is where the sweet spot is for price performance; the one you linked looks great to me.

I'm such a HAFx fan I wouldn't be objective on the case.....

Both those coolers are about equal in my experience. With a 3770 they would both top out at about where you want to go overclocking. Maybe at the top end the H100 wins but mine failed on me (leak) so no maintenance...... But the NH-D14 brings limits to RAM height ....

PSU I would say 850 this will give you the ability to add another card in the future....just in case....

I can tell you about this case. I use it myself and is very user friendly. Air-flow is good, however you will need to buy the optional fans a 140mm for up front and a 200 for the side. If you go with a H-100 or other WC and you put your rad in the blowhole area you can move the 200mm that is there to the side.

Hey SoRWaR96..... choices choices; it's tough but I wouldn't feel comfortable saying "get that one" !

If you go with 3770 Z77 then ripjaws z is good.
If you go with 2700 or 2600 Z68 then ripjaws x is the way to go according to the Gskill qualified motherboard lists

Ok if I OC can I get a stable 4.5-6 clock on a i7 3770k with a noctua dh-d14 or any other air cooler that you guys recommend than I will get 3770k also the temperature shouldn't be high as I don't want to damage anything. If not then I'll go for the 2700k, will I get a stable OC around 4.8? also if I OC the 2700k will it be better than a 3770k @4.5-6?

I think this is the best way to decide. btw way is there a 3930 without the K?

Also is this mobo good for OC and in general. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...=5&subcat=2261 I think it has wifi built in can anyone confirm this. thank you in advance. Great community and great people. Hopefully when I build this I will share it with you guys and will become a guru (maybe one day... )

Yes, I reckon that is a good board in combination with the 3770K and unless you get a real dog of a chip you will be able to get 4.5 no worries and the NH-D14 will take that in it's stride. Just remember that the 3770K overclock temperature curve is logarithmic i.e. it jumps up in temp very quickly past a certain point but 4.5 is eminently doable.

Yes that board has WiFi. No no 3930 without a K.

Re the 2700 at 4.8 vs 3770 at 4.5 this is a bit difficult to answer. At certain tasks yes at others no would my guess but really there wont be much real world difference. The 3770 is newer tech at the end of the day.
