    Mobo red cpu light

I have just bought a Crosshair V formula mobo, an AMD Phenom II x 6 1100 cpu, a Zotac GTX 580 GPU, a Corsair GS800 PSU etc and having put it all together get nowhere because of the red cpu light on the mobo! I then bought a cheap single core CPU which changes nothing. I have taken the little battery out for a while and tried again and have taken out and moved the memory cards.
As a novice could someone please give me an exhaustive list of things to check in their order before I contact the mobo seller? I have read a few threads but different people do things in different orders....Help!

    Hi there!
First off I'll tell you I know nothing about AMD stuff so I am presuming your CPU board and RAM (memory) are 100% compatible...maybe you would like to list you RAM.

I guess the first thing to do is make sure all the cables especially power cables are well fitted as per the manual. Check that the ends of the cables have metal contacts to the right length in the plastic etc. Maybe double check the RAM is seated properly down into the slots too. Maybe just start with one stick....If you are sure the CPU is seated well and the cooler too and the cooler fan connected to the CPU fan header then maybe have a look through this thread for more info including flashing a new BIOS etc. http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread...-FX-8150/page2

If that still gives no result take out the CPU and check the socket for bent pins and then re-seat and try again.
I find copious swearing helps throughout this process!

Could you please confirm that all the power connectors from the PSU to the motherboard are correctly seated. Pay particular attention to the 12volt CPU connectors. If you look in your manual you will see which connectors need to go where.

Do you have access to another PSU, CPU to determine what the problem location might be?
