Question just got rma info for returning my card any suggestions on one last attempt to fix it

its an asus 7970 dc2 artifacts and glitches freezes and locks up all the time. seems to be because of the voltage yet the voltage is locked at 1.060v so theres nothing i can do about giving it a little extra. i really would love to find a fix for this card but its not looking good as ive tried everything i can think of to try and fix it and every time it seems ok for a little while but then its artifacting and everything else again
any suggestions before i ship it off?

One suggestion by MarshallR, was to try downloading a "generic" VBIOS for the card and using that for your OC needs

as in the basic vbios for the asus 7970 off the techpowerup database or the in general generic from visiontek or something?
ive tried every asus 7970 bios off techpowerup they all either dont work right with the card or produce the same effects.

Back up. The DCII is a custom PCB that means you can not use just any 7970 bios. You can only use a BIOS written for the DCII.

Mate if the card is not perfect RMA the sucker and get one that works 100%

If you are not sure your RMA will be accepted then we can work round the voltage problem and see if there is a software solution to increasing your voltage.

Pretty sure we can increase the voltage. I might not have a DCII but I do have a couple of HD7970 cards and each one can have their voltage increased.

That's the thing mate, from what I have been reading on the Forums here; is that the DC II 7970 is actually voltage locked in the VBIOS

ya i dont think it will be accepted only because its a minor problem that they would have to really really test it to actually see all the big effects. i would love to fix this problem but so far the voltage is limited to 1.060v as the max and others report the same issue with the dc2 and ive flipped the switch near the crossfire connectors and the voltage is now moving around a little more im still locked to 1.060 but its not staying at 0.945 anymore like it wasnow its going up and down between 1.030 and 0.945 artifacting is still happening but its down by far. its a start i guess :P i really want to just keep my card even more so since all i have to use while its being rma'd is a nvidia 7900 GTX

Worth a shot, however my understanding is that the card is ready for some modding if that is your thing. And would work in conjunction with the RIVE motherboard.

ive tried that locks my card down to one monitor and the vrm temps go nuts (70c within 3 sec of load vs the stock 50c after a few min) and i would love to do some hotwire tweaking but i have a M5A97 EVO mobo

also i wonder if the portion that says "short to control" is JUST hotwire or if that might possibly enable control for gpu tweak aswell anyone tried it?

Ah sorry mate I have tried. Think is I did not go the DCII route this time round with the 7970. Have a good couple of the 580 versions mind.
