PC not powering on (Possibly liquid-cooling related)

So, today my PC randomly switched itself off. I opened it up to see that one of my CPU water block fittings is loose, however it doesn't look like it could have leaked. I've had liquid cooling for a good 4-5 months problem free. My motherboard is the Asus M5A97 Pro. The only place I can think the coolant could have gone is on the back of my video card pcb. I don't know if that could have shorted the motherboard or what. I tried to power on the PC without success. It stayed on for a couple of seconds and went off and will now not switch on. I used a jumper for the power supply and can safely say the PSU is working fine. Any suggestions on what to do? Thanks,

    Xeuyi.

This is not good... I would pull the gpu and look for signs of moisture..
then i would do the same to the cpu.. if you remove the cpu and
touch it to a tissue .. u will see even minute moisture... the off and
on thing .. now not on .... oboy..
    and the memory ...
id let the mb air dry..or use a hairdryer on it low temp ..(carefully)
and put it back together and give it a shot ...
but personally .... i dont think it will be good news .. but
im cross'n my fingers for ya ...
    best of luck...keep us posted.

***hot/cold and vibration over time...maybe a good time to
check some of 'our' fittings as well.....thnks for the reminder.c.

    So many possibilities.

What type of WC do you have; all in one like the Corsair units or a custom loop????

Suggest you remove all the cards, and the CPU block, then check the MB closely for any signs of coolant. If you still do not find any sign of leaking you can reinstall your hardware and re-seat the cpu, don't forget to TM, and see what happens.

Also check the case wiring closely to see if there are any sign of a problem there.

You might also list all of your components for others to get a better idea of possible problems.

Oh, if you do find any signs of leaking fluid on the MB you should remove it and then you can use distilled water to rinse it off carefully and let it air dry for at least 24 hours or use the hair dryer on low but still give it a day before you put everything back together.

It's a custom loop. I pulled the video card out straight away - completely dry. I also got some tissue and moved it inside the pcie lane - dry. I'll remove the cpu and see what's happened down there and come back to you. As for my hardware:

    Phenom ii x6 1090t @ 4ghz
    8GB Corsair Vengeance memory
    M5A97 Pro motherboard
    Sapphire Radeon HD 6870
    750 watt coolermaster PSU

Just removed the waterblock and CPU - no liquid to be spoken of whatsoever.

I would swap out components if possible. I know not everyone has spare parts but I just bought the cheapest video card I could find (GT210 or some such) so that I can test for failures and have a backup until I can get a new card.

I have a spare video card and memory I can swap out, but not a CPU. I'll insert the spare memory along with the video card to see if anything happens and report back.

    As expected, nothing happened.

Sounds like something up with the board or CPU. I'd remove the CPU and check for scorching. I don't suppose you are still within the RMA period for any of your parts?

I may be but I'll hold off on sending them back. I've planned to upgrade to an i5 within a couple of weeks and that means a new motherboard as well so I'll just wait it out until then. Thanks for the help guys, I appreciate it.
