    couple of performance questions please.

My G75 has 16 gig of ram and 2 SSD drives. I have disabled disk defrag, superfetch, and hibernation. Disabling hibernation gave me back 12 gigs of drive space. I've done some research and can't really find any good answers as different people have different opinions. Since I have 16 gig of ram, and never hardly use any of it (even with lots of stuff running) should I disable the
    1.) Paging file
    2.) Swap file
3.) Anything else I'm not sure about

    Thanks for any replies

P.S this is one awesome machine.

    Hi,

If I were you, I wouldnt do anything especially to the paging files cause messing with them gives you a BSOD especially running games. If you want you can turn off some windows services and search which will give you a little performance boost (not a lot since you already have 16gigs).Others you can leave it as it is, as it doesn't affect too much.

Normally blackviper's site has some good info but either these links have to be dated because a lot of the advice just seems off for a modern system with a SSD. They really read as if he wrote them a couple of weeks after Windows 7 came out before SSDs became common place.

    I use this guide frequently.

I don't recommend disabling the paging file completely I keep one with a static size of 1024Mb and it has ever been an issue for me.

    Yup thats pretty comprehensive.

Some of the SSD manufacturers ( samsung and intel for example ) have toolbox routines that check settings for ssds but nothing wrong ( recommended really ) with going thru a guide like that step by step.

I don't especially recommend turning off the system restore functionality on your OS drive ( debatable I guess if one gets enough frequent backups to external drives ) ... but everything else looks pretty good to me.
