OK what you can also try is this.

Remove all hard drives and only have the USB stick with the BIOS file connected.

    Power on the system

The system should automatically go to EZFlash2

If successful simply flash bios as per normal

Sigh.. yeah, that's what I tried. I posted this question as a separate thread, but do you know how to flash the BIOS through the ROG Connect software. The manual says you CAN, just not how to....

Here's something interesting. While playing with the ROG connect software, I was running through some different settings, and instead of getting straight codes to be sent back to the connected laptop, I was also able to change it to "String". Well, almost right off the bat, even before it stopped at "0E", the string form sent back from the main system states "CHECK CPU". I'm guessing that means that the board reports that the CPU is bad...

My system does not have an ROG Connect button.. at least that I can find. The only BUTTON I have on the back panel is a clear CMOS button. Apparently that is a feature of the Maximus IV Extreme Z, not the Gene-Z board... PLEASE, if you can find something to prove me wrong, I've been scanning that stupid post for the last week! lol.

Well on the one hand that is a good thing, because it is reletavly simple process to rma a CPU.

And nope the Gene does not have the function you are looking for. Just doubled checked
