    White Screen

    Hey guys,

I got an ASUS G74SX-DH71 recently (had it for about 3 weeks now) and i've run into a little bit of an issue. randomly (its only happened twice now) the screen will turn completely white and wont recover. I have been forced to shutdown each time and I have no idea why this is happening. It does not happen when my computer is under any sort of strain or when I'm doing anything out of the ordinary. The last time it happened I was watching a video on a website and when I closed chrome it just went white. Please help.

Sounds kind of like Windows isn't flushing out your RAM properly when you exited Chrome, if it happens again try performing a quick 3-finger-of-yore aka ctrl+alt+del and see if it forces windows to show the logon page and choose Task Manager from the bottom of the list(assuming this works) then click on the "processes" tab and scroll down to see if there any copies of Chrome.exe still in the list, if there are just click any that are there and click end process at the bottom right of the window. Hope this helps

I tried the 3-fingered-warrior and it had no effect! the logon page did not show and the screen remained white...

I have a similar problem with my G53jw. Twice it happened while playing games, and once while I wasn't doing anything in particular. I suspect it is a hardware problem rather than software.

Next time I am forced to RMA I will mention it.

ok cool just didn't know if it was anything harmful to my system health. I was running an unusually high amount of RAM at the time of the white screen but it wasn't too out of the ordinary to spark further inquiry.
