G74SX running pretty hot during a simple game? (Diablo 3 at 55-60)

I have noticed that lately my G74-SX has been running abnormally hot during games which are not too demanding, like Diablo 3. For example just as an experiment now, I was looking at the auction house (does not involve anything intensive at all, no gameplay at all), and it was running at about 54-55. Is this normal but I just didn't notice until now? Or am I looking at an upcoming problem?

EDIT: The gameplay itself runs at about 59-60.

That's a lot cooler than mine is running at. Of course, I run D3 maxed, which perhaps you don't.

But then again, mine has been idling rather hot too...

Interesting, I maybe never noticed. I always feel the laptop get really hot in the little patch above the arrow keys. It had me worried a bit.

Completely normal, or actually your running cooler than average. I am usually at 64-65 when I'm gaming on Battlefield 3.

Some games (notably Starcraft II) have taxed a GPU harder in menus and non-3D screens than anywhere else. How hard your system is working isn't always a function of how much you see going on. But in your case your temps are fine so I wouldn't worry.

Team Fortress 2 - 70ºC
Max Payne 3 takes it to 75º - 78ºC. Your system is fine!

I think I am just concerned because it physically gets hot. Especially in that little open patch above the arrow keys, like its very hot to the touch. Its my first REAL gaming laptop so maybe I'm just not used to the heat. Dirt Showdown runs at about 60-65, and its very hot above the arrow keys.
