    3820 overclocking on a P9x79 Deluxe

Ok this overclocking these newer 2011 CPU's is really starting to irritate me. I keep reading about 125 CPU starp (which I know what it is) and using 125 BCLK with 37 Multiplier on CPU. ok that easy part. now WTF is a second CPU VTT voltage? and what voltage adjustment ties itself to the QPI for BCLK overclocking? right now i am limited to 104 BCLK and 4472 Core speed.

Forgive me but I am a little confused.

    If you are on 125 x 37 then you are @ 4.6

so how do we go from a BCLK of 125 to 104? You can only have one or the other on the ASUS boards I have worked with. I am sure I have misunderstood so could you please fill in the blanks for me.

I was unable to break 104, for some odd reason it just would not go higher then 104 on the bclk. And everywhere I was reading peeps doing at least 125 BCLK. but I think I gotten it figured out now, just now sure how in the world I did it though.

To ASUS Admins, I don't think I am a bot, how do I lose the image verification?

I'm not an Admin, but it's an easy question: http://rog.asus.com/forum/announcement.php?f=134

confusing BCLK and Clock multiplier/Strap maybe. Multiplier is max 43 on this chip with BCLK at 100.

Leave BCLK at 100 and change strap to 125 and choose an appropriate multiplier.....

    eg 37 x BCLK at 100 x Strap 1.25 (125) = 4625

    4472 is 104BCLK times the 43 limit.

You can safely leave second CPU vtt on auto

I understand the confusion. It is not all that intuitive I must agree.

ASUS do the strap change automatically for you. There are BCLK levels that when set trigger a change of strap. The only one you need focus on is the 125 strap. If you were to select in BIOS 125 or higher BCLK your CPU would be automatically via ASUS bios hidden settings changed to the 125 strap. Your real world BCLK would still only be 100 - even though on your BIOS screen it would read as 125. To increase your BCLK to the same 104 you are currently running at you would therefore set 129 as your BCLK.

    Hope that helps.
