What Arne said is of course correct. Personally I would not bother with upgrading ram on that system unless you find a good deal on used you won't notice much if any deference. The Nvidia Nforce chipsets generate quit a bit of heat on their own, make sure you have good air flow in your case.

I'm just trying an Asus GTX 670 TOP card... so far it's awesome! I'm running it on a PCIe2.0 mobo (Asus Rampage III Extreme) and works very well... I think, it would work with your system too... it's running very cool - even OC'd it won't go over 70C (of course, the airflow in the case is important)
