NEW RIVE BIOS 2002 and 2003!?!?!?

Yup here is the link http://support.asus.com/download.asp...FZemJak3vMbWHg

So why is there a version 2002 and 2003, both wih same release notes?

Also looks like we need to do some kind of convert?

    Here are the release notes...

    BIOS 2002

    Rampage IV Extreme BIOS 2002
    Improve system stability.

*If the BIOS version is 1404 or older, please install the converter first before you update the BIOS.(contains the converter&the manual)

    And for BIOS 2003

    Rampage IV Extreme BIOS 2003
    Improve system stability.

*If the BIOS version is 1404 or older, please install the converter first before you update the BIOS.(contains the converter&the manual)

From with in the file there is a PDF and it says the following:
The BIOS Converter is an ASUS-exclusive utility that allows you to convert the BIOS structure from .ROM to .CAP for Windows 8 full-functionality

So it looks like we need to load Rampage-IV-Extreme-CAP-Converter.ROM file first then Rampage-IV-Extreme-ASUS-2002.CAP or Rampage-IV-Extreme-ASUS-2003.CAP. Again not sure why there is a 2002 and 2003 available with the same notes.

Also checked Rampage IV Formula and Rampage IV Gene and they both have a 2002 and 2003 with the same notes...not sure whats going on with that, maybe they found a bug in 2002 and didnt remove it from the support site? And fixed it and changed it to 2003? Any ideas?

Does this have the sleep resume issues (12x multiplier, bad core temp readings) resolved? Asus has been silent on this since Shamino built us a custom BIOS several months ago and I know there are a number of us waiting for these changes to be merged in to the main line BIOS releases.

I dual boot mine with Win8 and OSX, after flashing this BIOS, OSX no longer works, not even the install USB.

You cannot revert back to 1404 either.....

    Not happy

The Manual clearly states this "After updating your motherboard’s BIOS with the BIOS converter from .ROM to .CAP, you cannot reverse it back to its previous structure."

What it does not state however is that running the converter flashes both BIOS chips...so be aware that this is final. Running the converter changes from ROM to CAP and updates the BIOS it is not a two stage process....there is no need to have both files on the pendrive etc. this will not work (in case you have read the thread posted above, which is useless).

Choose 2002 or 2003 (explanation of this would be great!)

Rename "Rampage-IV-Extreme-CAP-Converter.ROM" to R4E.ROM and follow BIOS Flashback instructions as normal.

Switch system on and it will update BOTH BIOS chips and iROG.....

What does full W8 functionality mean, have we been missing something up till now? Why do we need converters for a bios for W8?

2003 has reserved a special backdoor method for backwards flashing to 1xxx bioses.
    2002 does not.
This is mostly for win8 certification, i do not see any benefits personally to be honest, i do still stick to 1404 myself.
