I just did a fresh install of windows 7 on my Asus K54c, and now I can't get my old Asus app's anymore. How can I make my windows 7 recognize it as an Asus laptop again. here is a screenshot of my error:

Anyone? Hellooooooo (echo)
lol.. i think ur notebook is just fine.. Asus live update utility has ruined most peoples notebooks.. ur asus is as Asus as it gets
How does live updater do that? Also my old apps like p4g don't work either, which help me save battery.

Try downloading the software from the above link...c.
yeah thats what I did 5 times, but the software thinks that it isn't an asus. I installed windows 7 on a windows 7 disk, not the asus factory one.
You don't want live update, it just causes problems as others have said. Just install the programs you want in order to make the computer run faster with fewer problems. P4G can be downloaded directly from the link, or just browse the FTP site: ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ (when it is up, which it isn't right now)
I am disturbed because I cannot break my system...found out there were others trying to cope! We have a support group on here, if your system will not break, please join!

We now have 126 people whose systems will not break! Yippee!
LINUX Users, we have a group!

I've all ready tried that, and I still get the same error message. Remember I used a non asus oem disk to install my OS
As long as thats a legal OS that should not matter.
Did you try uninstall live update?
Turn it off in Services ?
Make sure it isnt in start up tab of msconfig ? ect. ???
reboot with the network disconnected ..
wireless off .. or cable unplug'd ?
.. or
reinstall the os .. dont load live update..
put all those drivers you downloaded on a thumbdrive first..good luck.c.
