Crosshair V Formula - Cooling + RAM issues

Hi All,

I bought this Mobo sometime ago. I also bought a coolermaster 212 cooler as we all know stock coolers are junk. It hit the memory and would not fit. I had been doing no overclocking and was just running a Linux torrent/file server(no illegal content I swear). I, however, slowly went down the OC path by trying to conserve data. My 9TB useable was running out. At first I removed duplicate files using a dedup app. Then I realized the video files were the issue. So I went about trying to convert them all to MKVs so they were playable on my TV and to use more recent technology to make 5GB 1hr files much smaller. This got me to OCing.

Anyways I digress, one of my DIMMS failed(70k errors in memtest) either due to heat from the CPU or voltage increases automatically applied by ROG technology. Bottom line: I need to know what coolers will fit with Vengeance memory(high profile) I was thinking of picking up a H60 but it is suddenly outside of my budget.

Case I am using is the Antec DF-85 so my 6 hard drives heat the intake air before it gets to the MoBo. My 250 GTS runs hot at no load. The HDDs stay at about 33-35C. The Video card runs at 52C w/o OC. The CPU runs at 45C with just running Vuze and Chrome on linux. I did some cable management but so far only minor differences.

Last question. I am looking for thermal sensors to attach to various parts. The Crosshair has 3 pin-slots for them but I can't seem to find the wires on anywhere but a single one on Amazon. Also I would prefer to plug the Molex fans directly into the MoBo instead of manually deciding the load.

Let me know if you wish me to attach pics of my rig.

Memtest errors will need more checking in to. May be heat. Most likely is a problem with the memory. Maybe should try testing 1 stick at a time. I recently went through a problem with having memtest errors and had to slow my memory from 2133 to 1866 but with lower latencies and actually get better bench scores.

The H60 or higher would be a great cooler if it was in your price range. On newegg the H60 is $65 and I don't know of a good air cooler that is much cheaper.

I get a lot of computer parts from www.performance-pcs.com or www.frozencpu.com
they have the sensors you are looking for. I'm sure there are a ton of other webs site as well.

Here are some
