FanXpert 2 does not retain settings

I have two fans on the "optional" headers.
I was a bit disappointed when I found that these can not be controlled relative to the CPU temperature, but I set them to 850rpm in manual mode.

After reboot those two fans are always running at full speed, and FanXpert2 shows me they are set to 0rpm.
Pictures below will explain.

Any ideas?

Did you change fan control parameters in EFI ??
So run ( one more time ) the auto fan tuning ...

Ran autotuning again, but no joy.
I also found that the problem does not just happen after a restart, but every time I load a preset.

Please try to upgrade the motehrboard bios and the Fan Xpert tool Utilities

the file download link:

I have also noticed differences in CPU temp reported by the ASUS software and HWMonitor in excess of 20C

With standard settings in FanXpert2 (CPU fan to 100% at 75C) this would result in the CPU package hitting 95C in HWMonitor before the CPU fan reaches full speed. That can't be right?

Updated the BIOS to 0804. Didn't seem to change anything.
And it appears the FanXpert2 has not gotten a new version in the new AI Suite.

But I played around with it abit, saving and loading settings and whatnot. And right now it retained the fanspeed after restart.
EDIT: some times it works, some times it doesn't.
The sliders are still not in line with the actual fan speed though:

Had a great deal of trouble with FanExpert2 and the Corsair 3-pin fans the AF120 and SP120. Works better with 4-pin fans, not sure why, PWM information or interface maybe, could be the extremely low current that they draw from the motherboard.

Make sure you save-to-profile in FanExpert2, its easy to miss that step and move to another fan, I messed it up a zillion times at first. So started saving each fan to the same profile, before moving to the next fan.

RealTemp, Techpowerup Open Hardware Monitor 4.0, and AI Suite 2 all show the same temps, CPUID HWMonitor seems to add 10C to every reading.

Here are some idle temps in Techpowerup Open Hardware Monitor 4.0:

AI Suite 2 says idle CPU speed is 1600Mhz with Intel Speed Step enabled, this software says 1400Mhz, otherwise the temps are similar.

Is your CPU temp of 48C idle or load? That should drop lower if you enable Speed Step in the bios, so the CPU throttles down when you are not using the 4.2Ghz overclock or whatever o/c you have set up.

Also try one of these other hardware monitors, your temps might read lower, not sure why CPUID reads so high, but if 3 out of 4 hardware monitors read the same I would throw out the one that doesn't, but then I like my O/C served cold. 😛

Morning Tyrus, if you don’t mind bro, download this hardware monitor, I grabbed it last night just to see why CPUID reads crazy high. Installed it and its seems to read the same as AI Suite 2. But if you don’t mind, installing it and seeing what you get as temps and your idle Core frequencies. I can’t understand why it reads 1400Mhz, on all four cores when the Asus Suite reads 1600Mhz idle. Thanks man. And throw us a screenshot when you have the time.

Hope fronzel doesn't mind us low-jacking his thread just for 5minutes.:)

AI Suite 2 just averages the 4 cores into a single reading. My first and last cores always read much lower (at idle) than the two middle cores, doesn't matter what hardware monitor, is this true of every 3770K? Maybe we can find out here today. I'll take this over to the M5E thread so as not to mess up fronzels thread, maybe we can get others to post some screenshots the more information the better. Sorry for the disturbance fronzel.

Not at all. Lots of good feedback here Bruce!

Will be testing with different temp-monitors when i get home.

I think I also need to reseat the cooler, because after testing last night it was idling just below 40C (AISuite value) at stock speed and ambient around 22C.
Haven't got the waterblocks yet, so i'm running stock cooler atm.

Will also try saving the FanXpert profiles for each individual fan like you suggested.
