I have been thinking about this lately, it would be good to know in what is coming, not many knows, i know..

What will be the next cpu gen, release to fit this socket?

Or is the focus on the Rampage V? (2011), with even greater speeds..

But there has been many speculations regarding that..

Ive Bridge-E is going to be LGA 2011 for sure. Haswell on the other hand is LGA 1150 and since Intel is moving to a new socket I'm willing to bet they'll move to another socket as well for the higher end chips that will follow which signals the EOL for the RIVE.

But is people going to stick to the R4E??, when the cpu's is realesed?

Or will the R5E offer better overall performance, in comparison?, it should, and it will.. Boards need to be sold..

Personally i dont care, but some brainstorming..

I guess there is always a group that will upgrade the board, no matter what.. (the majority)

But no pch fan = i am not rushing to the store.. ;o)

Imho it's not worth it to upgrade. Have you seen any details about a RVE? I haven't seen anything around so I could guess that they'll save RVE for the next enthusiast socket (after Haswell).
