Tech Report picked this up. I know there are several AMD fans so I'll just leave this here *whistle*

I would like AMD to have a winner again in the performance sector. Might shake things up as I do not think it is good to have such a one sided contest as it currently is.

    Go AMD.

    Go AMD.
Second that...Intel needs some competition to make their chips get faster quicker...

While I was excited at having seen this here thread (thanks heaps MarshallR!! ) I was left thinking "So what does this mean for performance gains if any over my current 2 month old FX4170" could I buy one of these bad boys and put it into my CHVF or would I see a proper performance gain if I bought the coming Z revision...or am I better off just waiting on the SteamRoller? then of course the implications of better performance if I used an AMD GPU or 2 in my setup......so much I neeeeeed to know

I am a long time AMD supporter. My first computer build was with a AMD k6 2 500 mhz. 2nd build was the AMD Thunderbird 1ghz unlocked with #2 pencil led used all Abit boards until the 1st crosshair and been a ASUS fan sense. Everyone I know has always built intel. Go AMD ! I hope.

K6-2 400, K6-2 450 (both were a b*tch to use because you had to patch Win 98 install and I was using cheap motherboards ), Duron 750 (40quid! Lovely chip), Athlon 1GHz AXIA (at 1.33 - cost me 125 quid.. soo much at 17 on ASUS A7V133), Athlon TBred-B 1.4, aaaand then I started using Intel as I was getting free motherboards (1.6a, 2.0a, (meanwhile also had dual-CPU 1.13G Tuliatin on Supermicro mobo!), 2.4b, 2.8b(183FSB on ASUS P5C800), 2.8c, 3.2EE(LOVED this chip), 3.73EE(hothothothot), 2.8D(POS), E6300(at 2.2), E6700(won it), E6750(ASUS P35 'Vista Edition'.. URGH), Q9650(at4.2 on Striker Extreme), i5-750, i7-860(great chip, nice P7P55-Dexlue), i7-990X(wife uses), i5-2500K (M4GZ)). I tested about every high-end A64, FX, Phenom, Phenom II CPU though and that's not including all the VIA boards I went through (still have a VIA dual-core experimental board at home!) /Off Topic

I wish they would, but they haven't for six years...and I'm an Intel fanboy.

Why is it Intel comes up with these geography code-names that are so boring (Sandy-Bridge [I'm hiding from your civil engineers ], Ivy-Bridge [ditto], Nehalem [??], etc.)...
...and AMD's are so cool? (Bulldozer [wish it would do that], Steamroller [wish it would steam-roll Intel to improve my next Intel laptop], etc.) ???
