Help Overclocking 3960x on P9x79 Deluxe

    Hello,

I have overclocked my system to 4.8GHz@1.41V using the guidelines shown by JJ in this video:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kx2z07sFM2I&feature=plcp
The memory is Corsair dominator GT and is at default set by XMP.

I am able to boot and run AIDA64 stability test for 30min with no problems. Maximum temp is 71°C.
The problem is that when running games (e. g. Crysis 2) sometimes the computer freezes completely (after like 1hour).
I am able to reproduce this freeze if I run Unigine Heaven 11 for 1hour too.

When I run at stock speeds apparently no freezes occur.

When I updated all the mobo drivers from Asus website I got bsods while gaming instead of the freeze:
    http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/8097/img0148eq.jpg
Then I did a system restore and came back to the original drivers.

Can you help me to get this overclock stable?

    Here are my specs:
    Core i7-3960x
    Asus P9x79 Deluxe
    4 x 4GB Corsair Dominator GT 2133MHz
    eVGA GTX680
    Corsair GT 120GB SSD
Custom loop watercooler (Block EK Supremacy, Rad XSPC EX360, Swiftech mcp655 pump, EK advanced reservoir)
    Corsair AX1200 PSU
    HAF-X Coolermaster case

0x0A is usually unstable RAM IMC so you will have to play about with VCCSA VTT and maybe CPUPLL. Outside chance it is a straight Vcore increase that is needed.

What is XMP setting Vdimm to and vccsa vtt cpupll.....

Do you have tweak mode 1 or 2 enabled and VCCSA LLC set to med and VCCSA current capability set to 140%? etc.

    Phobya Bench Table / Rampage IV Extreme / i7-3930K @4.6GHz offset -0.015 / 16GB Corsair Dominator Platinum 2133 CMD16GX3M4A2133C9
2x ASUS GTX Titan in SLI / ASUS Xonar Essence STX / 2x OCZ Vertex 3 256GB 2x WD Caviar Black 500GB
Custom loop: EK Supreme HF Full Ni / 2x EK-FC TITAN XXL Edition / 2x EK Coolstream XTX 360 / EK D5 X-Top CSQ Acetal
    Alphacool D5 Vario / EK-Bay Spin Res

DRAM voltage is set to 1.5V (stock of the modules)

By tweak mode you mean the XMP profile? There is only "Profile #1". No other option.
VCCSA and VTTCPU are set manually to 1.100V
CPU PLL voltage is in auto.

VCCSA LLC is set to "Regular" (options are: Auto, Regular, High, Extreme)
VCCSA Current Capability is set to 120%. (Maximum is 130%)

Yes , sorry, the next VCCSA LLC is high not med. I would set that and I think that allows you 140%. The tweak mode is in DRAM timing control....

I f that doesn't work I would bump VCCSA AND VTT to 1.25 and work down from there and make sure CPUPLL auto is setting 1.8 to 1.9

And or you could set vdim a bit higher..1.55

Something that I noticed, the XMP wants to set CPU VCCSA Manual Voltage to 1.300V
But I set it manually to 1.100V

    Should I use 1.300V or 1.100V?
Can VTTCPU stay at 1.100V and let XMP up the CPU VCCSA to 1.300V?

    ---------------------------------------------------------

About the changes you suggested, I still cant find the tweak mode, but the timings are 9-11-10-27-2N.
And the maximum for VCCSA LLC is 130% even with high option. DRAM AB and CD Current Capability should be 130% too?

Or should I just up the DRAM voltage to 1.55V and not change anything else?

Sorry rlandersen I'm talking about a couple of things that my board has that are probably different in your BIOS.....small stuff just ignore it.

I would not let XMP set 1.3 myself but each to his own...it sounds like you are nearly stable where you are so maybe just up a fraction. VCCSA and VTT dont have to be the same but I run them together myself.

I would try both approaches (VCCSA/VTT up a bit or vdimm) ....but not at the same time and see if i get stable using either or if with both which gives lower temps.

You can set DIGI + RAM current capability to 120 or 130% and the power phases to optimized.

Yes, I think Im nearly stable.
    Ok, I put VCCSA/VTT at 1.15V from 1.10V

I will see what happens. I did not touch the DRAM voltage which is 1.5V.

Is Unigine Heaven a good tool for simulating in game stress?
Do you have any other like this to recommend?
Because the problem only happens when gaming.

How long should I run a test like this?

About Unigine I don't know. I'm pretty much into seeing if the computer does what I want it to so I would suggest a good gaming session to test it

I just got the same bluescreen 0x0A while gaming?

Should I increase VCCSA/VTT or up DRAM voltage to 1.55V?

I would up vccsa/vtt to 1.2 and if that doesn't work up Vdimm.
