X-Fi 2 thru discrete video card HDMI on Rampage III Gene or Maximus IV Gene-Z?

I'm super excited about the the upcoming Maximus IV Gene-Z. Have some questions that I thought I might draw some clues from the Rampage III Gene (X58) or Maximus IV Gene (P67)?

Question is: if I want to use audio via HDMI on the discrete video card, is it possible to still use the audio from X-Fi 2? Or would this be video card dependent?

Obviously if someone know the answer for Maximum IV Gene-Z that would be the best!

it depends on the video card. some of the older cards dont have a legacy controller so it required a cable from the motherboard to the video card.

newer cards like the 400 and 500 series nvidia cards have them built into the card so it will work on any board.

Tx Brian. Do you mean if I use say the nvidia 560Ti I will be able to get the audio signals generated by X-Fi 2 via HDMI? What'bout 6950/6970?
