Unhappy Windows 7 won't boot from hard drive after bios update

I have not-so-recently updated the bios on my crosshair v-formula motherboard to version 1402 since i have done this, windows will no longer boot from my hdd, even after re-installing it, can anyone tell me how to sort this out because booting off the disk is slow, and I'd quite like to use my dvd drive

Have you tried going into the Boot tab of the bios setup to make your hdd 1st boot priority?

What do you mean "Won't boot" ? What error do you get ?

If you installed it using SATA/IDE mode, and now it is set to AHCI, then it will BSOD, you will need to make sure the SATA Controller is set the same as it was when you installed windows

I don't get any error if i try to boot using my hdd, just a black flashing white bar, as if no OS was installed, The SATA settings remain the same and I've tried every possible boot setting in the bios without luck
