So at this point I'm pretty confident my system could handle a nice OC, currently @ stock settings after running P95 for 30 minutes my temps via Core Temp maxxed out at 38 Celsius , using the Standard CPU and Chassis fan profiles via Fan Xpert. I'm wondering what the max OC would be with stock Voltages?

    Hi Chris,

Each CPU is different so the only way to find out is to test the processor with a variety of stress tests to see what it can do at a given voltage.

    help

hi, i recently buy a crosshair V formula, a single memory G-skill 2133, an AMD FX8120 and a 580 ti directcu, the problem... can´t put the memory in more than 1600, when i change the config in the bios, it puts an "overclocking error", it can be an incompatibility issue? what i need to do to get the memory in the correct speed?, i dont want to overclock the processor right now, at least no if not necessary...

oh, and english is not my primary language, not even the second... so i´m sorry if i talk like a robot...

    thanks

It is going to be difficult to instruct you if we cannot understand each other. You will need to make some adjustments in UEFI to get 2133, and depending upon the kit, if it is not qualified on AMD you may have some issues getting it stable.

technically, the memory is the only one in the memory list with 2133, the code of teh memory is:
    F3-17000CL11D-8GBXL
    DDR3-2133 DL 11-11-11-30 1.5V

i print the guide of this post, and i can understand you, hope you can understand me too

    thanks

edit: oooo, you mean compatibility between memory and prossesor?

4.1 easily if your nb and ht are 2200.

ASUS Crosshair V Formula AM3+ AMD
    AMD FX-8150 Zambezi 3.6GHz Socket AM3+ 125W Eight-Core
    G.SKILL Trident X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2400 (PC3 19200)

I have successfully gotten the RAM running at 1866, but any attempts to go beyond this result in an overclocking error. Are there any known bios settings for voltage, etc. that allow the Trident X series to run stably at 2400? (It may not be possible, since this memory is supposedly designed for Intel chips.)

Looks like a kit binned for Intel not AMD, at first approximation (check Gskill's product pages and you will see what I mean). That means it may not run very well on AMD systems as plug-and-play as you are finding out. Always worth checking GSkill's page for the kit and seeing which platform it was binned for. Too late now obviously, but just a heads-up for future purchases.

I don't have the kit here and can't pull settings out of thin air as there are too many variables. To get anything more than DDR3-1866 out of them, you will likely have to adjust some of the timings and possibly fiddle with drive strengths. Possibly need a bit more CPU/NB voltage, too.
