G73 - After 213 bios update via EZFlash - NO POWER AT ALL

Posting for a buddy of mine.
He recently purchased a g73JH-1A. Thing ran great for a couple of days. He was getting the static issue with the sub, which was reported to be fixed using bios update 213.

He placed the update on a memory key, went into the bios via F2, and applied using EZflash. It flashed correctly, reported it was shutting down in 2 seconds.

    So far so good.

Pressing the power button on the laptop now produces NOTHING - no power, no fans, no response. It just clicks.

    Adapter is giving correct voltages.
    Harddrives have been removed.
    Reset hole has been pressed
Laptop has been "power drained" by holding the power button for 60+ seconds with the battery and the adapter unplugged.

Any known of common fixes for this?

My first guess would be the update didn't work correctly (for whatever reason) and the Motherboard is bricked, so he has to RMA it :/

If in warranty then RMA it definitely. In case you are out of warranty or live somewhere where you have no access to asus support then....
There's one possibility of fixing it but you'll have to open up the laptop and remove the bios Cell for a minute. videos on youtube tell you step by step guide.

His problem is that he forced the flash using 213... 213 is for the JH model. He has a JW model, which the current BIOS is 205. He forced flashed the wrong BIOS for his motherboard. He should have gotten a warning screen.

He'll have to RMA it for a replacement or a reflash.

Just double checked with him, it is a JH after all, which is why he didn't get the warning.

So the original question still stands.

    Any known fixes?

Looks as if he had a bad flash after all. Was the USB stick formatted for FAT32 or NTFS? NTFS sticks have been known to cause a misread.

    RMA for a new mobo.

looks like that's what we're going to have to do. Disassembly and removal of cmos battery is no such luck. I would put a warning on the asus page that flashing with ntfs jumpdrive can cause a dead mobo.
