Dual LAN teaming on Maximus IV Extreme-Z

Hi,
Is it possible to use teaming with the Intel 82583 and 82579 LAN controller of the Maximus IV Extreme-Z? I don't own the motherboard yet, so want to be sure.

Yes, teaming will work, but you will be 'limited' to the features of the lesser controller (the 82583). In other words, the team won't support jumbo frames, or a few other minor features for example.

Is the 82579 controller the one to use for a single LAN connection? I would have thought the 82583 (working on first build, trying to get educated ).

Yes, if you're using one connection, stick with the 82579
