Problems with OpenSUSE 12.2

Ooook, so I finally ripped the 128GB Samsung 830 from my lil server and put it into my rig and installed OpenSUSE12.2. Got a minor bit of customization done, new desktop at least lol. I went to mount my internal 2TB Seagate HDD but I got the error "Cannot Mount Drive" and below it says "The file could not be mounted".

Would I be correct in guessing the reason this isn't working, is due to the fact my 2TB is set up in NTFS? cos my 1.5TB elements external gets mounted...though it doesn't mount correctly as it says the drive is 1.13TB in size and i've only used 400GB from it which is way off too lol.

Any ideas from the Linux pro's in here?

Edit: forgot to mention the 2TB is also a dynamic drive, had to convert it for my studies...if that makes a difference.

Don't quote me MYK but I do think that your problem is two fold and that's 1 It's NTFS which Linux doesn't like but will work with but also the BIGGIE Problem is the Dynamic Drive part...unless something has changed recently I have never been able to get an NTFS Dynamic drive to mount in any version of Linux. I too have OpenSUSE 12.1 installed on an older Dell that I ripped apart and Frankenstined it into a usable system....:p

Yeah, I read not long ago about problems with Linux and NTFS, wasn't sure if it'd changed and i've tried to make the disk basic again, but it won't play ball....and I don't have another drive that I can dump all my data to and try to reset the drive back to basic, well not yet anyway.

Never had a problem with NTFS and LINUX really, but I'm by no means an expert. Also, my NTFS drives are not dynamic, just simple partitions, which probably helps things a great deal. FAT32 makes a great shared-data partition, provided that you don't need gigantic files.
I am disturbed because I cannot break my system...found out there were others trying to cope! We have a support group on here, if your system will not break, please join!

I remember about size problems when using FAT32 and this is the first time i've used Linux and NTFS side by side, last time I used Linux was with XP, but I was stubborn and refused to move from FAT32 to NTFS lol

MYK and Zygo, how much does OpenSUSE 12.2 stand vers. 12.1 and is it really worth allowing the upgrade?

I dunno mate, it's been a loooooong time since I last used Linux. So for me, 12.2 is a whole new Linux and i'm dead serious, the Gnome in this is totally different to what I vaguely remember from back when I played around with RedHat 6.0 lol

I didn't use 12.1, so I can't say, but it seems quite stable for me. 🙂 How mission-critical is this computer? If not seriously so, I'd say to do the upgrade.

It took me about two weeks to get 12.1 fully up and running but the machine itself is running a TS3 Server, a personal email sever and a World of Warcraft Privet Server with approximately 50 family and friends playing on it. So as to mission critical I would say not so much since the MySQL server is on a Separate Server so as not to loose Character Data but also the MySQL Server is replicated on a Backup Server as well.

I'd say upgrade it, then. I've never upgraded OpenSUSE distros, but I know that a clean instal works beautifully.
