The NoteBook edition of Creative THX Studio is mostly useless IMO. I'd uninstall it unless you need ALchemy. Then you'd get access to the Realtek environments + Graphic EQ.

If you want to see if the sub is working (it's pretty weaksauce imo) put your hand over it when some music is playing and listen to see if the tone changes. You should also feel your hand vibrating a bit. You could also put a thin piece of paper over the grille to see if it's moving air.

+1 @Tigital! That's a neat test video. It shows my built-in speakers have a response at about the 80-8000 Hz range - right up there with airport PA systems.....

Mine seemed to go up to 10000Hz, you can feel the subwoofer vibrating with this thing.

Oh yeah, uninstall the current THX driver and download the THX TruStudio Pro, Turn up the crystaliser settings, the speakers. Thaat will make the G73 sound nicer. And this fixes the G74 muffled sounds. You seem to own the G74, you can try that if you have not.
