Hi Everybody!

I'm from im using Asus G74SX and im on my way to upgrade it but i need some advices! I want to flash a moded Bios 203 wich supports memory like 1600Mhz or more and get this num lock button fixed! But i have red a lot but i didnt find anything stabel for at least 90% may be if some one have a nice working 203 bios mod please give me a link! 😮
And if i will put this processor: Intel Core i7-2920XM Extreme Edition (8M Cache, up to 3.50 GHz) will it work in G74SX or would i feel a differance fom this upgrade or it is not so big?!

Thanks for helping me!
P.S. Sorry for my English im from Ukraine.

Modded BIOSes are dangerous things...you could brick your machine. I woiuld never flash a modded BIOS in unless I was ready to be without my G74 for some time while it gets repaired. Don't bother with 1600MHz ram...you will not see *any* performance improvement in all of your day-2-day apps. Only a RAM specific benchmark will show any improvement, but those have little-to-no relation to common programs, even games. And, if you want the numlock thing fixed, download and use NumLocker.

And, don't put an extreme edition (XM) CPU in there either. Those are 55 Watt CPUs, and will run so hot in your laptop (which was designed for 45 Watts only) that they will throttle, and/or the turbo overclock will never kick in. Waste of $$. Get a core i7 2820QM instead.

Hi fostert! May be bios flashing is not a wery good idea... But i just check out my cpu and find out that im running on Intel Core i7-2670QM! But i thought that im runnig on an Intel core i7-2630QM... Today i compared my current i7-2670QM with i7 2820QM and i find out that there is no big differance between them... Should I realy get this i7 2820QM or may be there is something better to put im G74?

Something definitely better to put in is an SSD drive! The performance gains are simply stunning, since HDDs are definitely the bottlenecks in PCs today. Save your $$ for a SSD instead of a faster CPU. You will not regret it!
