VGA post light stays on Crosshair V

    Hi,

I bought a crosshair v two weeks ago set it up in my system and flashed to the latest bios 0506 to gain some stability.
After the flash It was running fine until the other day I was playing dirt 3 and my pc crashed when I reset the system it would not post.
On checking the motherboard I saw the VGA post light was staying on which indicates a problem with the graphics cards.
I have checked both cards in another system and they are ok but when I put them back in the crosshair v board it will not boot.
I have tried one card at a time in both pcie x16 slots but still nothing.
I have tried resetting the cmos but the board still shows the vga light error during post checks.
What I now think is that the pcie slots have broken, does anyone have any suggestions?

    My system specs are

    NZXT Phanton case
    AMD Phenom II 1100T
    Crosshair V bios 0506
    Thermalright silver shadow cpu cooler
    8gb Corasir Vengance 1866mhz
Two Sapphire HD6950 2gb dirt edition twin fan running crossfire. On stock settings
    Corsair 1000w modular psu

    Thanks in advance.

    Steve

    Hi Steve,

Have you checked the PSU and memory in another board? If both of those work, then I'd suggest you RMA the board.

    Hi Raja,

    Thanks for the response.

I have checked the ram in another board and it is fine also.
As for the psu I have not taken that out yet but everything looks fine with it, there is still power going to the board.
Everything else is working - cpu, ram post ok it just stops on vga constantly.

    Regards,
    Steve

    Hi Steve,

Okay, if using one DIMM in the furthest slot (slot 4) after a CMOS clear does not encourage the board to POST then the only option left is to RMA.

    Hi Raja,

I have already tried that one stick in red slot 4 and it still is not going past the vga light.

I'd put in for an RMA Steve, you are eligible for an advanced shipment on these boards.

    Raja,

Does that RMA advanced shipment apply to people in the UK also, I live in Scotland?

You will have to check with the UK RMA department Steve. They should have something in place.
