    New gamepc issues

Currently i am bussy to get a new Game pc.
But there are some trouble with the hardware.

    System:
    Case: Antec P193 V3
Extra case fan: Antec TrueQuiet 120mm 2x
    Powesupply: Antec HCP-1200
Mainboard: Asus Rampage III Extreme s1366
    CPU: Intel Core i7-990X
    Ramm: Kingston HX D3 1600M 6G 3k XMP C9
    HDD: WD Caviar Black 1.5TB 64MB 2x
    DVD: Lite-On iHAS324 SATA Black
    Sweex cardreader 3,5 inch ZW
    Graficcard: Asus ENGTX580 DCII/2DIS/1536MD5 2x
    MS Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

The problem is the setup of the Asus Nvidia graficcards, the cards in the list give a constand re-boot when windows 7 is installed,
in single-mode and SLI-mode, in a different pc the cards run fine.
So in other words; Windows 7 is not starting up the pc with these cards.
    This is the card: http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/N...CII2DIS1536MD5

The pc shop is bussy with this problem for a few weeks now.
They tryed it with different driver and bios versions, nothing it getting it working.
Like i sayed before; in a different pc the cards run fine.

They put in a EAH6970 DCII/2DI4S/2GD5 from ATI, and they work fine in singel and in Crosfire setup.
The pc have a normal boot.

I would prefer not to have the ATI cards in it, because of the OpenGl problems,
    but prefer the:
    Asus MATRIX GTX580 P/2DIS/1536MD5
But i think the matrix is running the same set of drivers than the Asus ENGTX580 DCII?

Is there anyone here who can explane what is going wrong?
Or is there someone who had the same problems?

When you say single mode I think you mean that SLI is disabled but both cards are still installed? Does Windows boot with only 1 card installed?

    They tryed many setups.
1 Card, 2 cards, 2 cards in SLI.
They also tested different kind of bios and driver versions.
    The system keeps rebooting.

They tested the cards in a different pc, with a diffent mainboard, and inthere it runs fine.

But strangly the ATI cards run good in my system.
In both Single ans Crossfire mode.

Hrmm, sounds like they were pretty thorough. Could be power related though; the latest cards can be pretty power hungry. Have they tried a different PSU just in case there is something wrong with that one?

They tried another psu, same result, ATI works, Nvidia fails.

But anny idea about the constand reboot?

I also thought of a power fail.
But the ATI cards run fine, have both ATI and NVIDIA cards have the same power usage?

No, they don't have the same power usage, but that PSU should be plenty large enough. I was just worried that the PSU itself might have been faulty. I'm not sure what else to tell you. If you have a tech laying hands on it in person and they can't figure it out then short of swapping every component I don't know what you could do.

The system runs now with 2 EAH6970 DCII ATI cards in Cross-Fire with a 850 watt psu. (sorry i don't have more info about the PSU)
The GTX580 DCII Nvidia version fails again.

Because of problems with the OpenGl on ATI Catalist drivers, i prefer the Nvidia version.

Some pics of the mainboard and the Antec PSU.

    Does this extra info help?

    ATI cards works.
    Nvidia keeps failing.

Have they tried reinstalling Windows? You say that this only happens when it tries to boot into Windows. Perhaps Windows just has a bad driver installation or a conflict between the Nvidia and ATI driver installations.

They are currently bussy with the technical support of Asus in the Netherlands.
They also could not find out what was wrong.

    Problems seams complicated.
Both cards work fine if the run seperatly, in my system, and also in a testsystem.
The problem accours when the second card is put in.

    Than windows won't boot.
And get in a continous reboot cycle.

So it looks there is someting wrong with 1 of the cards.
They are going to order a new card, to try to test which card is the broken one.

They tested the Antec powersupply, and its good.
I also contacted Antec from the Netherlands.
Antec gave a good and very fast support for the psu.
