3570k won't get over 3800 MHz

I followed this great guide found here.

My specs are identical - Maximus V Gene / i5 3570K / BIOS 1604
My build is found here.

I followed Marshall's guide step by step, but Prime95 won't push past 3800 MHz. 😞
I did save (F10) settings in BIOS each time. Confimed this when I rebooted on several occasions thinking I must have missed something. But after checking, double checking, triple checking - no go. Still only get 3.8. Windows task manager and AI Suite both show 100% CPU usage. Should this be 140% if I'm pushing to the desired 4.5? Is there a setting in Prime95 that needs to be told to push pass 3.8 or 100% ?

Please, any suggestions. I'm thinking it's a simple solution.

BTW, running Windows 8 64 bit (if that matters)

Thanks

Hey there ventoux 🙂

How are you checking the OC ....with CPUz?

Are you cooling your VRM directly?

Yes, if you're checking the CPU in Windows, you will see the brand and model of your CPU... it won't show your actual speed... - use CPU-Z for an accurate info...

Also don´t have 2 monitoring programs running at the same time so either use CPUz or AI, I suggest you uninstall AI and use CPUz

yes, I'm using CPUz
It only goes up to 3.8 at 100% CPU usage.
I only checked with AI and windows task manager to double check.
I'm puzzled, as this seems very straight forward. I followed the exact same steps in the guide.

What is your setting in the Windows Power management? Is it "High Performance"?

Hm... can you post screenshots of your actual BIOS settings?

I can RDP into the rig from work - but no BIOS screens 'til after work.
I followed the guide precisely, so my screens are identical to those shown.

What other screens of the BIOS would I show?

Out of interest, what kind of cooler/temps are you getting? From the OC thread it looks like the stock Intel all in one cooler thing jobbie?
