Thread: Crosshair V Formula will not POST

  1. #41

    this problem makes no sense.

I have had the following set-up for months now, working fine.

    Mobo: Crosshair V Forumla
    CPU: AMD FX-8150 Zambezi 4.0 GHz Socket AM3+ 125W Eight-Core
    RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (Running at 1600 because anything faster is unstable).
VGA: Radeon HD 6970 (x2 CrossFired)
PSU: Cooler Master Silent Pro 1000w

I used to have the 1100T black edition, but I upgraded when Zambezi came out. it was a bit unstable at first, but a BIOS update and taking my ram from 2133 to 1600 Mhz made it much more stable.

About 2 hours ago, windows froze (completely randomly) and when I tried to reboot it wouldn't. I looked at the mobo and it has a solid red DRAM_LED light on and the CPU Fans don't move..

Nothing ever appears on the screen making it impossible to screw with any setting at all.

    I have tried,

1.removing ram sticks and leaving just one
2.clearing CMOS (by cliking the button in the back)
    3.dusted the pc..(LMAO getting a bit desperate).

I am not quite sure what the proper course of action might be since I cannot even see the BIOS screen.

    Please, help!

[GHASP] a step in the right direction!

I just removed my Zambezi CPU, and replaced it with my 1100T.. and poof! DRAM_LED disappeared.

moved them again, and it reappeared. could this be a bad CPU? or bad settings for the CPU?

    its official

the FX8150 that I was using stopped working for me. I am now typing this up on my rig.. using my 1100T Black edition w/ the same RAM sticks I was using on my FX8150.

I schedueled an RMA with AMD, and am currently awaiting a reply.

It would've been better, i think.. If I was able to mess with the CPU setting in the BIOS, I think part of the reason I could not do much about the problem was.. It wasn't letting me into the BIOS..

Problem fixed! at least for me.

    Unhappy Please help

    Similar issue....

Asus crosshair V Formula bios 1003
    Amd FX-8150 with Liquid cooler
    Corsair vengeance CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9R 4 x 4GB
AMD radeon HD 4470 x2 in cross fire

I've tried just about every suggestion on here.

I've even connected with ROG connect and it just says "Test CMOS"...
Pressing Go button lights up DRAM LED (flashing), but only then.
    I've cleared CMOS repeatedly.

I've removed all but one DRAM and alternated which stick and which slot. I've unplugged everything and re-plugged it all back.
I've removed all but one VGA card... I've even found an extra chassis speaker- no beeps.

Please, help me! I so don't want to seek an RMA as I bought it unopened secondhand.
