No boot from DVD

Sorry if this is a numpty question but I cannot get my Max 4 Gene Z to recognise my DVD drive. Tried two totally different makes of DVD but no go. The system hangs at A2 for 20 secs then loads the post screen and then goes straight to the HDD. I've tried the F8 option but all I get is a request to press any key or select a different device and reboot. Usedf bios 0208, 0403 and 0603.

I suspect that I'm not understanding the bios correctly. Can "Raja" give me a monkey walk thru?

You need to go to the boot settings and make sure that the DVDRW drive is listed first in the order. This will still allow booting from the HDD when there is no bootable DVD, BTW.

I have done what you suggest and also tried a third DVD drive. The A2 delay has now gone with this new drive and I'm now booting from this drive with your suggestion OK :).
