Z87 C2 to fix USB 3 chipset bug

When will the C2 stepping of the Z87 chipset be incorporated in the ROG line up? I am interested in a Formula VI, will the updated chipset be used by the time the Formula hits the stores? Will there be some indicator on the packaging or otherwise showing the C2 chipset is on a board, as was done for the Sandy Bridge B3 chipset stepping?

The USB controller is on the CPU and yes let us hope that the USB3 works this time round.

Actually Intel confirmed there is a hardware bug in Haswell's chipset that will be fixed shortly after launch, with a new C2 stepping of the Z87 chipset. It wasn't deemed serious enough to delay Haswell / Z87 launch, but it's still something to be aware of.

Google it, it's a known issue that's been acknowledged by Intel.

99% of people won't be affected, there's 0 chance of data loss and we're building a QVL of non-affected USB 3 flash drives as well. I'll dig out the actual situation where it causes a problem shortly.

I wanted to buy an ROG board, but I just saw that the cheaper ASUS Z87-Plus has a seperate ASMedia USB3.0 Controller, which probably makes the Intel issues irrelevant?! http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z87PLUS/#specifications
I can't find any Information about a seperate usb controller in the ROG boards. Is the info missing or do they just not have it? I don't want to spend that much Money on a board, that may get on my nerves with this bug in the future.

Z87 Intel Chipset supports maximum of 6 USB 3 ports. So if a board has more than 6 USB 3 ports, you can be sure some of them are from a 3rd party chip. You can try downloading the manual for the board you are interested in, you should be able to get the info in there.

I don't know about every ROG board, but the MVIE definitely has an ASMedia USB 3.0 controller with four ports connected to the back I/O shield.
