[Maximus V Gene] - CSM disabled + Windows UEFI mode = Wake On Lan does not work

Hi guys,

Anyone having issues with 'Wake On LAN' with CSM=disabled and OS mode=Windows UEFI?
- Enabled APM - Power on By PCIE/PCI
- Enabled Wake On Lan via BIOS (Intel NIC)

It took me a some time to troubleshoot on the issue and, found the cause being due to an older Intel LAN PXE / EFI UNDI Driver from Asus's BIOS releases. This should be across all of Asus's original bios releases. Although I have only tested on bios 1408 and 1802. There may be some bugs on the older Intel LAN PXE / EFI UNDI Driver which causes this.

The solution was to update to a latest modified bios with all the updated modules:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1802 Mod Bios, all module latest version
Intel RST oROM and RST EFI Driver- 12.7.0.1910
Intel SVGA oROM / GOP Driver- 2158 PC 14.34 / 3.0.1023
Intel LAN PXE / EFI UNDI Driver- 1.5.04 / 5.6.10
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thread on the latest bios+modules: http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?33285-Maximus-V-Extreme-BIOS-1802.&country=&status=
Credit goes to jjxaker for the updated bios+modules.

Asus seriously need to consider updating the modules with newer bios release.

On a side note, if you are using Windows 8, then the "Hybrid shutdown (S4) or Turn on fast startup (recommended)" has to be disabled in order for Wake On LAN to function properly.

I'm also thinking about upgrading to modded bios to get benefit of new Intel OROM. Experiencing some raid0 performance issues.

I'm aware of this thread:

Can you tell me what's included in modded MVF 1803 bios ??

I cannot confirm what's included in the modded MVF 1803 bios from 'Overclock.net', however, if I would to guess, it only includes the updated Intel RST oROM and RST EFI Driver: 12.7.0.1936. This bios, however causes the Maximus V Gene a bug of not being able to shut-down. You may refer to this thread for more information: http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?33831-Asus-Maximus-Gene-V-Restarts-by-itself-when-shut-down...

Upgrading to bios with modded lan efi driver resolves errors with intel lan card in event log.
Upgrading intel raid orom + efi driver still doesn't resolve raid0 trim issue. Maybe it's sand force firmware 5.06 to be blamed.

Modded bios do not cause "unable to shutdown" for me, but I'm M5F user, not M5G.

ASUS DO SOMETHING ! On your mbo box it's stated "Win8 compatible" and there are errors in the event log. It should also support raid0 trim - it doesn't - surely not with the stock orom!
