Okay here is what I need:

    1) Tell me what you have changed (if anything) in sound options.

    2) Download DPC latency checker: http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml - let's see if there are any system delays when the glitches occur.

The more info you guys can give the easier it will be for us to replicate at HQ.

My friend I have the same problem listed before. Those are the common settings we are using :
    Windows 7 pro
    CHF5 motherboard
    optical connexion
Z-5500 for me, Z-906 for him
in the sound option, we are on the realtek ouput optical, 48k 16b

We had a very hard time at the beginning to configure the sound. Its now working at 2.1 with lag, delay, static sound, etc... We tried to change the optical cable, reinstall the default driver from the website, change the settings in the sound option (44k, 48k, 96k, 16b, 24b)
I dont think the rest matters since we have diff PSU, case, GPU and memory.

    Now with the DPC :
at each 5 latency check, we drop at 3000us, and the 4 next one are at 110us.
Its telling us this message : "Some device drivers on this machine behave bad and will probably cause drop-outs in real-time audio and/or video streams. To isolate the misbehaving driver use Device Manager and disable/re-enable various devices, one at a time. Try network and W-LAN adapters, modems, internal sound devices, USB host controllers, etc."

If you need anything else, just tell me. thanks!

I am experencing everything Carloshell is having, but no LAG with DPC, I have yet to go anything over 110us, Currently I am running FurMark, winamp, DPC, surfing the web, typing this post, and I am getting no change in DPC, but the sound is cutting out with crackling.

If i turn off FurMark or stop moving, I can listen to music, but it crackles and sometimes drops.

    I am running a CHF5 Board
    X4 970BE
Z-5500's with optical cable. (If i run with 2mm jacks i do not get any kind of crackling or lag or drops).
    AMD Gigabyte 6950 2gb
    Crucial M4 64 SSD
    Corsair 750 Watt
    And water cooled...

I'm having the same issue crackling, popping, sound dropouts with the optical out onboard and all my sound goes to my Home theater so i don't have other speakers to hook up to the MB no other sound card either so I'm stuck with having to deal with this . I'm using windows 7 64bit, heres my system hardware config.

    1) AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition Thuban
    2) ASUS Crosshair V Formula AM3+ AMD 990FX MB
    3) ASUS ENGTX560 DCII OC/2DI/1GD5 GeForce GTX 560 (Fermi)
    4) G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900)
    5) XFX Core Edition PRO850W PSU
    6) COOLER MASTER Storm Scout Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
    7) COOLER MASTER Hydro Series H70 High Performance CPU Cooler
    8) 2x Corsair Force Series 3 60GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive

Sample rate used is 24bits 48000hz Studio Quality, Drivers used is ver. 6.0.1.6363 also when system turns of i get this static booosh sound from speakers.

Just built this Unit 1 week ago, lets get cracking Asus Team and fix this help us your our only hope.

ok I used the DPC tool and had Latency maxium 2914 avg. latency was around 2700, so I started Disabling things in the Device Manager but nothing changed the DPC Checker until I closed AIsuite II app then it dropped to Max latency 116, but the popping and crackling sound in speakers remained was also getting the message from DPC that Some ("device drivers on this machine behave bad and will probably cause drop-outs in real-time audio and/or video streams. To isolate the misbehaving driver use Device Manager and disable/re-enable various devices, one at a time. Try network and W-LAN adapters, modems, internal sound devices, USB host controllers, etc.") that also went away after closing the AI suite II app now it says (This machine should be able to handle real-time streaming of audio and/or video data without drop-outs.). So I restarted AI Suite II and the latency jumped back up to 2817 max.

I know I'm going to lose sleep over this sound issue cause I have to mute the audio just to surf the net etc......

I ve got same problem like you guys. I was buy an additional sound card ( http://www.ebuyer.com/145851-creativ...-70sb088600000 ) cost me 100 £ more but now on optical sound is perfect. But when i am using my headset logitech g930 is doing same flickering (because is an usb headset and im guessing they use on-board sound). So this i think is a driver issue or hardware think. Hope the asus technical will release an bios update or something to resolve this.
