Have an Asus G75 where I want to switch the WiFi card for a dual band card so that it can run 300 Mbps and not only 150 Mbps by default. Is this a normal or half mini card in the G75 standard or?

I think some are putting in the Bigfoot card. I only get 65 MBS on mine still faster than my Internet connection 35 MBS

Z97 -A
Windows 10 Pro

Yes it is normal for that card.
It is only single band and it's max connection speed is 150mbps usually around 65/72 depends on your router.

I would recommend the Bigfoot cards since the dudes on this forum sounds to like them

I personally prefer the intel cards.

But to change the wifi card on the G75 you have to get under the keyboard.
Only takes about of millions of screws in my opinion but worth the "hassle"
Especially at schools with 5ghz preferred interwebz.

I've been looking at both the bigfoot and intel options. I must say I am a bit reluctant to go for the bigfoot, since it is an atheros card.

I will soon get my new intel 7260 ac card.
Got one a few days ago but it was not an ac card so had to return it and wait one more week after waiting for 2 weeks..."
But the intel 7260 dual band N without BT had actually better signal and ping than the stock atheros pos card

But there are some hiccups with Intel 6235's Bluetooth or I don't know if it's a Windows 8 problem since it worked fabulously on windows 7

Wireless N 300mbps + bluetooth
Intel 6230/6235
Bigfoot Killer 1102 without bluetooth
Bigfoot killer 1202

Wireless N 450mbs
the 3x3 MiMo cards - these will require you to install a third antenna
Intel 6300
Bigfoot 1103

Wireless AC 867mbps
Intel 7260 AC (HMW.WB)
and some Qualcomm cards

but I've read somewhere the intel 6300 has been unsuccesful even after installing a third antenna

Yes I have upgraded my Wireless card with Intel 7260 AC this friday.
but S**T happened and now I gotta buy new In-ears instead of the new ASUS RT-AC56U which sadly costs the same x)
So I won't be testing out the new AC wireless until Christmas or some crap since I gotta buy Battlefield 4 too...

back to topic

yeah the 1202 sounds like a winner since it has awesome reviews and speeds and the advertised prioritising for games.

I would recommend the 1202
or 1102 if you don't need the bluetooth
if you are not in a hurry to buy the latest AC cards.

but I personally recommend the Intel 7260 AC since it has better signal than the stock Wi-fi card. it might have some Driver issues at the start but it is basically brand new after all. so hopefully Intel won't botch the drivers again as they did for the 6235 cards on some users, but it worked fine for me, when I had it (put it in my parents ancient laptop).

the laptops wifi stops internet connection sporadically. I don't know if it's the new 7260 that does it or if it's the latest update on my Airport Express (wifi router). but I suspect that it's the new firmware for the Airport Express. but it could as well be driver issues on the laptop. (lost game connections sucks, especially with good in game scores in BF3)

p.s
for your other post on downgrading to windows 7..
just stick with Windows 8, and get start8. then it's like windows 7.
unless you need Windows 7 for some programs and such.
