I believe the issue was caused by updating the Maximus IV Extreme-Z bios firmware.
Maximus IV Extreme-Z
Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit
Logitech G510 Keyboard
Razor Naga Elite Gaming mouse
Logitech G9x Gaming mouse (Happens with both mice)
From the moment Windows 7 boots my mouse will disconnect from the computer (USB)
Sometimes it makes the noise as though the USB has been unplugged, others it will not. But in every case the behavior is the mouse becomes unresponsive while moving it across the screen. It is very often, random but multiple times a minute.
What changed recently:
Updated my bios version to 0403 (07/01/2011)
At this point I have tried the following:
Multiple mice, happens to any mouse i try and use.
Changing the USB port used.
Re-installing windows: On a extra drive i installed win7 64bit and after loading the default drivers from the MoBo CD the issue presented itself.
I have the following questions:
Can i revert back to a previous BIOS version?
Is there a default settings for my MOBO which provides the absolute default for every setting?
Has anyone hear of issues with usb devices (specifically Mice?) when updating their bios to this latest version.
Any help would be appreciated, i cannot game with my house behaving like this.
Other things I have noticed/done:
When i move the mouse and the freeze happens the distance i move the mouse from the freeze to when it comes back registers and the mouse moves the full distance i have dragged the mouse.
I auto overclocked which started to give me blue screens about second processor not getting a clock interrupt. In my hunt to fix this i first updated my bios then finally found the option to turn it off. I no longer get the blue screen or any errors. The bios update was done, after reboot issue was resolved in the bios settings so the issue was noticed one reboot after installing the bios update from the AI tool.
I set a different picture to load as a boot screen (feature in the AI tool)
I have tested having the keyboard type our 1's and while the mouse movements (no clicking just moving) causes the issue, the keyboard continues to type with no issue. So looking more and more related to mice? not just USB connections.
I had also installed Kaspersky but it did not happen right after that, AND i have since removed it. Going to re-install it now as it seems unrelated.
