G74SX USB ports not working

Hi,
I have the same problem, my usb drivers seem to be under the control of another application. 2 days ago I had updated using the ASUS live update utility my laptop came with, and it was working fine till I went to play a new game i just installed hours b4, the game worked fine after install, but when i restarted the computer the mouse/headphones/ and all other devises got power but not working. I also took note that all software that updated had become unstable after rebooting my computer; with 80% chance of the applications crashing or failing to start. Boo! this driver update! Can't roll back my drivers, and uninstalling just one of them now takes over an hour, and the driver disk refuses to install the default driver. Oh, and if i try to uninstall just my usb driver, the computer freezes Lame, cuz now I feel the only fix is format and re-install windows from scratch. I'm a game developer, and thats not something I want to do. Win recovery did nothing to fix the problem! Oh, and i got mine from Fry's, cuz it had 3gb gfx card in it, Bestbuy only had the 1.5, and the 2.0 gfx cards

I was looking through my Uninstall Programs, under the control panel, and saw the usb charger plus+ and fingered "why not uninstall that, just for fun" as it alows u to quick charm my cell phone when the computer is off, I like this, but it is not needed, and I restart and OMG it all works again, 100% working... LOL

Just uninstall {USB Charger Plus+} = cuz it is not needed, u can turn on usb ports in bio's while computer is off. LOL


It's as bad as the wifi helper software most wifi cards have = not needed and suck!

Oh, ps: I kept the 6 mb instal of it, just uninstall the one that has no file size, hope that helps.

Hey wanted to thank you for the USB Charger Plus idea.

My USB slots worked fine, for all my peripherals. Mice, Headset, iPhone, Nostormo, etc etc. However, it would not accept USB jump drives. It was really driving me nuts. I even called ASUS about it, they had me DL the new drivers for the USB, that didn't work, they then had me reinstall windows, and that didn't work. However just uninstalling that program seems to have worked.
