    R3 Forumla

This isn't my first build but there are a few issues in this one that are annoying me. I am more than willing to reload OS if I've botched something.

Jmicron pop up on boot, How do I alleviate this and get faster boot times?
    no drives detected

Marvell Pop up on boot, same as Jmicron.
    no drives detected

I also get 12 seconds or more of what seems to be the system off after I press the power button. I Don't even know where to check for that.

    My system,

    i7 990x
    corsair h50
asus blu-ray burner (in a sata 2 slot)
seagate 500g hybrid hard drive sata 2 (in sata 3 slot)
samsung 1.5tb sata 3 (in sata 3 slot)
    seagate barracuda 500g (x2) sata 2 (sata 2 slot(s))
    24 gigs, corsair ram
    msi twin frozr ii 560gtx
I also have the rear USB bracket attatched and connected the esata to a sata 2 port

I have played with bios to the best of my knowledge with the manual as a guide.

Go to the advanced section of BIOS and look under onboard devices, there should be a sub-menu which will allow you to disable the unused controllers.

I don't' know what controller I'm looking for, to be honest.

If I disable the sata won't I loose my hard drives?

after going in, i was able to disable one controller and all worked fine, i disable the sata 6 and i get an error message

    0xc000000e

boot selection failed because required device inaccessible

also what do you suggest for the 12 seconds from power on to ROG logo screen?

Re-enable the controller that the drive is plugged into. Turn off only the controllers that have no drives attached. Nothing else can be done about the boot time - write levelling for DRAM takes time, it's how the architecture works.
