cannot update Intel 82583v onboard LAN driver to latest one

Hi,

Just got my brand new CHVF-Z board today, came from an old CHVF with an Intel 82579v LAN

I 've just tried to update the drivers from intel and went through the choices to find my driver downloaded it and ran the PROwinx64.exe it got to the point of installing drivers and threw an error saying no intel products available.

ive checked the .inf and there is no listed product in the downloaded driver that is an 82583V. Ive downloaded the lastest one from Asus website and I get the same problem.

Its currently working on the windows driver version dates 28/03/2013
anyone got any idea's?

cheers

Sal

Hi OP, there are a lot of threads about this. I started one myself. There is a work around, but it's complex and involves editing the .inf files.

If you notice -- try running the install of the original set of LAN drivers from the CVF-Z disc. that one will work, but no newer ones. The hardware ID of the 82583V is DEFINITELY there in the new ones (I checked myself. compared it with the Intel Hardware ID from device manager)

Only thing I can advise is that you just use the windows drivers for it that 8.1 will install automatically.....see i'm assuming you're on windows 8.1, because on windows 7, i didnt have this issue.

can anyone add anything of value for the OP? Cause frankly, i'm just as frustrated as he is....

If you are on Windows 8/8.1 in theory the windows 8 driver should work: Network Adapter Driver for Windows 8* the one linked to in the previous post was for windows 7. See this post for my experience with installing the previous version (v18.8.1) on Windows Server 2008 R2.

Same problem with the normal CHvF non Z version

Could someone link me to the thread explaining how to add the hardware ID to the .inf please - I haven't been able to update my LAN driver since moving to 8.1 either
