I have a G73jh.I loaded yesterday first 11.8 and i could use maximum resolution in 1400*xxx than i removed that and tried again with 11.8 and 11.7 but nothing changed. Till tomorrow i had no problem. Than i updated driver on Windows device manager but know Cataliyst doesnt work. Can anyone tell me whats the solution and which driver is the best for Ati Mobility Radeon 5870?

I do not have any experience with the ATI Mobility Radeon 5870 or the G73JH, but if I were having trouble with Catalyst and needed to choose a driver, I would go to this thread:
http://www.asusrog.com/forums/showthread.php?1150-G73-74-53-Series-Driver-and-Application-Reference

In it there is:
Video System:
[JH] AMD Catalyst WHQL : 11.08 (08/17/11)

That is the one I would choose. I would then uninstall my current driver, reboot, sweep for any AMD video driver files, install this 11.08 version, and reboot. If problems persisted, I would contact Chastity or another ASUS rep on this forum and explain your issue.

Hi,

I would do the same as dstrakele saying, clear your system for all AMD (ATI) video drivers, reboot, and then download the drivers on Asus own support site before you install the newest drivers from AMD. 🙂

Alright, Here we go. Chastity's modified process:

1) Uninstall your current AMD drivers

1A) Uninstall again from Device manager this time checking the delete files box

2) Download ATI Crap Cleaner and / or DriverSweeper ( google it for quick download )

http://pcaudio.ath.cx/stuff/ATI%20Crap%20Cleaner.zip

2A) Reboot in safe mode, again uninstall your video card software via Device manager checking the delete files box.

2B) run ATI Crap Cleaner with administrator rights / run driver sweeper and reboot

Now you should have a clean slate to install anything you need.

Download one of the drivers listed here:

3) Install 11.9 WHQL

http://www2.ati.com/DriVeRs/mobile/1...dd_ccc_ocl.exe
http://www2.ati.com/DriVeRs/11-9_mob...2-64_xcode.exe
http://www2.ati.com/DriVeRs/mobile/1...ydravision.exe

or 11.10 Preview

http://support.amd.com/us/Pages/AMDC...iewdriver.aspx

When the download is complete, run the setup program as an administrator and do an express install.

Everything should work great after this.

Profit!

/edit If you are not able to install the drivers after the last reboot, just reboot again and it should be fine. Seems like a big process, but it should work.
