Any Kind of Lag and Atheros WiFi Card

I'm posting this so, hopefully, users with this problem will find this themselves and we volunteers won't need to suggest this possible fix so often.

If you have any kind of lag, including audio dropouts, glitchy looking online video, jerky mouse movements, freezing browser . . . that sort of thing. AND you have the Atheros WiFi/BT combo card, and you have not updated your driver for it, then:

1. Download Atheros 9.2.1.432 and extract the contents to an empty folder.

2. Uninstall your current Atheros WiFi driver, either from Control Panel >> Programs and Features (if you have it there) or from the Device Manager >> Network Adapters then right click on the Atheros Wifi and Uninstall.

3. Restart your notebook

4. When your notebook is again in Windows, run Setup.exe from the folder you extracted the driver file to.

5. Follow the prompts then restart Windows again.

Hopefully your notebook will be a bit less glitchy. At the very least, you will have a less problematic WiFi driver. 😉

Seems like things run a lot smoother after using this driver. Nice find mate. +1

Cool! Glad it helped.

It took me a complete clean Win install to find out about the wifi driver. Lol

Aren't you using an Intel card, though?

Now I am. I'm talking about when I first got my notebook. I only installed the Intel last week.

Well, what i noticed with the driver i was using is that the internet would hang sometimes in between pages, but now it is remarkably fast.

The driver he linked works for that card. I have that card and updated my drivers with it and it works perfectly fine.

Hmm, ok. 🙂
When I'm on Atheros homesite and looking for the newest driver for AR9285, then it's not the same version as JRd1st have listed up here (Atheros 9.2.1.432 / Atheros 9.2.0.113)
Asus G73SW-91058V 3D
- Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300
- BIOS 205

I never said it was the newest. It's a driver that fixed the problem I had when I had the Atheros card, so I know it works.

Geez, talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth. . .
