Hi,
This is my first post here.
I'm in the process of putting together a new gaming computer. I have decided on buying a Maximus vii hero mob and i7-4790k cpu. and I have pre-ordered a new gtx 970. Will the Maximus mob be able to handle this new video card that was just launched?

Hello suv444 and welcome to the ROG forum.

Congratulations on your new build, I know you're going to have fun with it!

You picked the right time to do a new build and the maximus vii hero will love the GTX 970.

Thanks. It's an exciting time to build a new computer. I checked out the x99 ,Haswell-e, ddr4 and it got my mouth watering.

A lot of time will be spent looking at the monitor. I started checking some out, and there's quite a difference in the types. I'm looking at an Asus 24"monitor with 1ms response time. It's a bit more expensive but in gaming every ms
matters. The cheaper ones had 2 and 4ms response times.

Does yourself a favor, settle on a 120 or 144Hz monitor, ideal for gaming.

I didn't even consider the refresh rate, and the ones I looked at were 144 Hz. Apparently, there's a huge difference
that gamers notice. The one I'm looking at won the reader's choice award at Tom's Hardware. It's the
ASUS VG248QE Black 24" 144Hz 1ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LCD 3D Monitor.
