I ofcourse selected to boot from the Usb stick, since I only get 3 options to select; HD, DVD-rom and the usb stick. Tried with unchecking/checking quick format, but none seems to work. I gonna try with another Usb stick and see if that helps.

Looks like it was the usb stick after all, used another one now and it worked. Guess the old one is going in the bin.![]()
Another noob q:
Everything is good to go...Now how do i turn/make my bootable USB (used in this process) back to normal?
just do another quick format in non boot mode.
ASUS is pronounced "Ay-SOOS"
ROG should be pronounced "R - O - G"

Yup figured that out right after. Thanks anyway though!
Now ive got BIOS 209 and vBIOS 211. Time to install the new ATI 10.11! Thank you Brian!!!
edit: on a side note ive got a few q's
1. how long should we expect to remain in BIOS 209?
2.My 5870's driver is 8.791.0.0 which was updated via Catalyst 10.11..i was also told that 10.10e hotfix was better for now? any truth to this?
Thank you, your procedures worked well on a G73JH-A1 aprox 1 month old before it's brainwashing procedure.
BIOS 209, vBIOS from the 93vBIOSa.rar and ATI 10.11 Catalyst.
Works wonderfully and whole system seems to run aprox 10 C cooler. Both on gaming and idle internet surf. (surf at ~52 C) Game topography seems to be rendering far smoother as well.
Whole system is much quieter much of the time.
Kudos to Brian@ASUS and all the folks involved in this fix.

Hi I just updated my vbio in the 98boot.
not sure if I did this right but I pressed the power button the restart the system
is there anyway to check the computer vbio system?
good personal day. I am in doubt how much the exchange of the vbios. I carried through my update of vbios using the guide disponibilizado in the first page but I was informed by one another forum of the disponibilização of vbios final that they are using.
link do post.: VBIOS - http://es.asusxperts.com/asus-gaming...nes-g73jh.html
it would like to know if necessary to modify my vbios for this informed in the forum of link or is the same thing inform therefore me that it improves powerplay
I've made a dummy proof tutorial on updating and several other fixes in my description here
Hope this help. Also, One of the asus beta testers provided a vbios with overdrive options in CCC (sry if this was mentioned already). Everything is in the description.
Just to chime in about the modded vBIOS:
There really is only 2 changes
1) The on-battery clocks were lowered to 250/500. Those are conservative settings that I have never gotten feedback on about not working with other laptops other than my own. This setting helps with extending battery life.
2) Overdrive is enabled, and was given ample headroom for overclocking. You will see more performance in overclocking the core rather than the memory setting, since the VRAM is already fast. A common setting that most people can use is 800/1000, or 800/1100. Note that temps will run hotter on faster clock speeds. Some people have found sweetspots at higher clocks, but YMMV.
Overclocking is not recommended if your core temps while gaming or under load is 95C or higher with stock speeds. If they are, then you should consider having the GPU checked for loose heatsink mount screws and/or dried-out thermal paste.
