Honestly, I'd love to. But where I come from, the only really "good" service you can get is my current ISP. All the others don't offer and have a better stable connection. One of the other ISPs actually offer a better internet service, in terms of speed, but I can't even play any online games properly or load flash properly either. Heck, I can't even go to regular websites such as gamespot or ign or even gametrailers.

    EDIT:

Anyway, thanks for the help guys and also JRd1st. Thanks for the thread, I find it easier to navigate this one than the one that's been stickied.

Hello and Thanks tons for Driver list. I have a question, I have a G74SX A1 and was wondering if I need to install the Creative THX software on Realtek Audio. Thanks in advance.

No, it's not essential. It's just an add-on audio enhancement program. Some people like the effect it has on the G74's already weak audio, while others don;t like it at all. I'd suggest you go ahead and try it. If you don't like it, simply uninstall.

If you tweak the Realtek audio manager enough, you can do the same things in there. It's just not the easy "pre-set" that you get with the THX program.

    Hello folks,
I updated my vbios a while back so for sh.t & giggles I looked at my cmos\bios info I looked at the current vbios it says 012.020.000.032.0383.6730 is this right. I googled the version number with no results. Also I looked at the vbios file on this site and matches till you get to the last 6 numbers goes 038352 instead of 0383.6730.
Any ideas if this is right?

kb0sdq, If you download and run the program GPU-Z, you will see that it should show the vbios version that ends in 038352. For some reason, that escapes me at the moment, the BIOS and GPU-Z show different verion numbers but they are both the same and correct.

    hello everyone

i am french, so excuse me for my bad english

i can't find any answer to my problem in french topics, and i found this very complete topic on google, so maybe you can help me !

i bought a g74sx 2 weeks ago... my numpad wasnt working, so i flashed it and i bricked it.
i sended my laptop at asus and i just received it again

it has 203 bios, the numpad is working, but the keyboard backlight isn't working !!!
i tried to install every version of atk drivers, without any success

someone tell me that the backlight isn't compatible with 203 bios and that i had to go back to 202 bios
it seems very strange that a new version of the bios brings more problems than before...

i'm so scared about flashing this bios again ! i dont want to brick it again, and i read that some peope bricked their bios even with a fat32 usb flash drive !

    what can i do?

this ****ing bios will kill me ...

You don't need to flash the BIOS....it's not true that the backlights require v202.

I would suggest you uninstall all remnants of those ATK packages you previously installed. Then just cleanly install the latest ATK for the G74, v.1.0.0014.

I recommend holding off on flashing the BIOS again. Many users with BIOS 203 have no problem with the keyboard backlight.

    1) Does the backlight flash on at the start of booting your laptop?

    2) Does the account you use to logon to Windows have Adiministrator privileges?

    3) If you press Fn-F4, does it turn on the backlight?

    4) Go to "Control Panel - Uninstall a program" and right-click on the ASUS ATK Package, then choose "Repair" from the popup menu. Does this resolve your issue?

    5) If not, right-click on "Command Prompt" and choose "Run as Administrator" from the popup menu. CD to C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\ATK Package\ATK Hotkey and execute HControl.exe.

    I've already do that.
Uninstall ATK, reboot, install v.1.0.0014, reboot... and nothing

    i've tried that with v8, v10, v14
