My Overclock settings

Thought I would post my settings in case this will be useful for others.

My only use for this PC is for gaming so some of the settings would probably not be suited to 24/7 desktop use. Notably the locked Vcore and locked Clock. But it does make it more stable on my CPU with a lower Vcore.

5930k CPU
CPU Clock 4.4 Ghz
Cache Clock 4.0 Ghz
Ram Clock 2666 Mhz (4 x 4 GB Corsair Vengeance)
Video cards. Two GTX 980's in SLI.
Two 512 GB Samsung SSD's in Raid 0
Antec 1200 Watt PSU
Thermaltake 360mm Water

Bios Settings. Anything not posted is on Bios Defaults.

AI Overclock Tuner = XMP 2666
BCLK = 100
CPU Strap = 100 Mhz
All Core Ratio = 44
Max Cache Ratio = 40
Internall PLL Over voltage = Enable
Fully Manual Mode = Enable
CPU Core Voltage = 1.280
CPU Cache Voltage = 1.200
CPU System Agent Voltage = 1.150
CPU Svid Support = Disable
CPU Input Voltage = 1.850
PCH Core Voltage = Auto
VCCIO CPU Voltage = 1.100
VCCIO PCH Voltage = 1.100
CPU Spread Spectrum = Disable
Dram speed = Auto

CPU Load Line Calibration = Level 8
CPU Power Phase = Extreme
CPU Current = 140%
CPU Power Thermal = 120
Dram Current (Both Channels) = 120%
Dram Power Phase (Both Channels) = Extreme

Intel Speed Step technology = Disable
CPU Integrated VR Fault Management = Disable
CPU Integrated VR Effiency = High Performance
CPU C States = Disable

I think that is all I have changed,

NOTE.
These settings are for Ram that is using a Bclk of 100 Mhz. If you are running faster ram that uses 125 Mhz Bclk then you need to lower the CPU Ratio and Cache Ratio. 35 and 32. You will aslo need to manualy set the System Agent voltage around 1.200-1.250 and maybe a bit more Vcore. Also, Don't forget to test your CPU Stability before using XMP for the Ram and overclocking the Cache.

I wonder if your A2 Q Code problem is from fully manual mode being enabled. I just disabled mine and selected manual for the Vcore and dialed in 1.22 for my machine. This made it stable. Previously, I had fully manual mode enabled and I typed in 1.22 for Vcore, but there was an auto adjustment to Vcore=1.232. My machine was not stable with this. After disabling fully manual mode, selecting manual for the Vcore, and then using 1.22V for the Vcore, I noticed my Vcore was about 1.216. This made all the difference. I was occasionally getting Ad Q codes on windows boot, but this is resolved with these few changes. Hope this helps. These settings are for the specs for my machine. I don't know which CPU you have.

All that info and I didn't put which CPU 🙂

I will have a look at why I enabled fully manual mode. If I recall correctly not using fully manual mode didn't allow me to set something.

It has also been posted in another thread that my A2 message is caused by another problem I have with Windows. Most of the time it doesnt shut the power off. IE, not shutting down properly.

I was able to find everything but CPU C states. I thought that it was near the Speed Step and Turbo setting but I don't see it there anymore. Any idea why I don't see it?

I think that's under Advanced/CPU configuration/CPU power management.

I found the cpu c states thank you. I updated to BIOS 802.

There are two Dram Currents and two Dram Power Phases. (I think, I am doing this from memory)

Do I change Both of each of them?

Yep. Change both of them. Their are seperate settings for A/B and C/D or whichever. I only posted one assuming both.

Unfortunately, I am still unstable.

I am going to try to use the XMP settings and a 124 BCLK and a lower multiplier and see what happens. I am also thinking of selling my 3000 Mhz RAM and getting something like 2400 or 2800. I think that my problems lie in the RAM but it is just a guess.

If you are trying 3000 Mhz Ram then my settings won't work. They are for 2400 Mhz which runs with System Agent voltage on Auto. You will probably need around 1.20 - 1.25 volts manualy set for System Agent voltage. And probably a slight Dram Voltage increase as well. Assuming your CPU can run the IMC at that speed anyway.

Thanks for the help. This is exactly what I need. No, it did not work again. I will try your advice and report back. Thanks again
