ASUS G750JX DB71 - Extremely Dissapointed

I have had my ASUS G750JX DB71 since October of 2013 and only a few months in keys on my keyboard stopped popping back up. I replaced the first one for $15 myself... then 2 more stopped... now several more have stopped popping up. $15 a key is ridiculous so I don't want to replace one key at a time, I wanted a new keyboard.

I emailed ASUS support and they want me to send the laptop back in- but I can't do that- it's a long story but I am disabled and need this laptop- ASUS might keep it for weeks (or worse.) I repeatedly asked them if I could buy a keyboard and they say no they don't sell parts to customers.

So I found an ASUS authorized service center in New York City and after finding out the specific make/model/serial number they tell me I can't buy just a keyboard, the entire "top" piece needs to be replaced- and I say, fine... But then they say the piece is out of stock on ASUS's website with no ETA when it will be available- so even their local authorized service center can't get this piece. (The Website is private and only they can check it apparently too.)

I very much got the "You're SOL" vibe from the technician basically thinking this will never be available.

He estimated should it come available it was around $300 for the piece.

It's more than I hoped but I'd still pay it.

This was the most expensive laptop I've purchased in my adult life and I was very happy with it initially and made great reviews around the web for it- but now I deeply regret the purchase. 😞

Thanks... I wonder why the service rep didn't know you could buy just a keyboard. I will look into if this is legit- the estimated delivery is a month away.

I ended up ordering this instead- http://www.amazon.com/MP-12R33USJ528W-0KN0-P41US12-0KNB0-E600US00-90NB00M1-1231US0-13NB00M1P16111-1/...

It's more expensive but looks easier to replace. Will follow this video- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsv8Vtml-E0

I am also getting a keyboard cover to hopefully extend the life of this new keyboard. http://www.amazon.com/Transparent-Non-toxic-Silicone-Protector-17-3-inch/dp/B00LIFFBOQ/

Wow, $185 for what is sold by Asus for $99... the US estore has been replaced, but it doesn't have all the parts it used to have yet either... I would complain to Asus, there is an Support tab at the US eshop, tell them you need this SKU: 90NB00M1-R31US0

Replacement Keyboard for G750JH Note book?
https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?48740-Replacement-Keyboard-for-G750JH-Note-book&p=414586&v...

Replacement Keyboard Module (G750JW, U.S.)
SKU: 90NB00M1-R31US0
Your Price: $99.99
http://us.estore.asus.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=6461

That URL brings up the US eshop, but doesn't find the replacement part it should, and replacement keyboards don't include the G750 part listed. So with the SKU you should be able to get help from the Support link to purchase from Asus:
http://us.estore.asus.com/pages/contact-us

If Asus isn't selling it directly to consumers any longer, at least do a more extensive search for a better price, there should be one closer to $99 somewhere.

http://www.asusparts.eu/Asus-90NB00M1-R31US0 <== USD $132

All the G750 top plates / keyboards are the same fit, so find the one with the right language inscribed and order.

Please come back and let us know how it works out 🙂

Here's a better option for $118 >>>>Asus G750 Keyboard
For some reason Asus changed the Asus eStore site, now it's very hard to find replacement parts.
Can't find parts by NB model any more, there's many replacement keyboards, but none per NB model.
You use to able to search per Laptop model.

Appreciated as well but you can't choose the United States for delivery.

Now that's a shame!
Why sell a US/English style keyboard, if not able to ship to the US?
Plus why give you the option to change at top from EUR to USD?

Good luck my friend.

Well the new keyboard/top piece came in earlier this week and I was able to swap it out- it is working well! The computer is like new again! This time I have a silicon cover over the keyboard, hopefully keeping it clean will extend its life.

I did not increase the memory at this time- I did note all 4 slots are already filled so I guess 4GB each.

Wanted to thank GottiBoi55 for pointing me towards Amazon- I checked eBay but hadn't thought about Amazon for this part.

Also want to thank the ASUS authorized repair center in NYC for completely changing their story about being able to do the replacement same day and instead quoting 3 to 5 days to give me the reason to do it myself- it's been a long time since I did a laptop keyboard replacement, glad I still had it in me.

You are welcome my friend, I'm glad you worked it all out and now back in the game.
